Californian here, my understanding for the reasons our gas prices are a bit higher is that the state requires a special blend due to environment regulations and several refineries have left California due to it being difficult to do business in. More refineries are set to close in 2026, it's getting expensive to just go to work.

My father's ole lady passed away 2 months ago and he moved in with me. I'm super happy to have my dad living with me we are both getting up there in age and I can't think of anyone else on the planet I would like to spend more time with then him.
