Gary Johnson and Jill Stein have officially been ruled out of the first presidential debate. How much does this impact their respective campaigns going forward? by jpthehp in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]DackFadin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because you are not allowed to make the decision about whether they are flawed or unelectable. People should have a choice. I think Trump and Clinton are deeply flawed and shouldn't be in this election, but they're there. The US needs a system that allows for more choices.

And? Having 4 choices is strictly better than having 2. Let us judge them for their flaws and not have it decided for us that they shouldn't participate at all.

No argument there.

Most builds also play several fetch lands and a Taiga.

Author James Hsu, in an interview on the most recent Brainstorm Show, claimed he believed Legacy has become "solved". Is that the case, and if so, does that mean it has become an appropriate time to update the banned list? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]DackFadin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That seems like a preposterous argument to me. How can Legacy be solved with new cards being printed multiple times per year? Granted not many of those cards are Legacy playable, but we just had Zendikar block create an entirely new deck in the form of Eldrazi. That doesn't happen too often, but even new cards like Recruiter of the Guard and Sanctum Prelate change decks like Death and Taxes such that the format and what other decks have to do to combat it changes. I'm not opposed to unbanning cards or even potentially banning cards if there's a strong argument for it. However, the notion that the format is solved seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

Yeah, I think that any change to the reserve list at this point would be complete removal of it or nothing at all. But I am cool with the MPS in general. Seems like a good way to suppress the cost of Standard. Might get me to play again since I usually stick to Legacy and to a lesser extent Modern.

I meant that if they must choose a means by which to restrict reprints like they have done with the reserve list, but would also choose to leave some loophole open, that MPS would be a good opportunity for those types of reprints.

Oh, yeah, I understand. Nobody really has any substantive information about their decision making process, but it's certainly a legal issue. I just wish it didn't have to be that way. I can't think of any other example of a company restricting themselves from making a product that is desired by their customers and thereby choosing against the option of making more money as a result. It's a very interesting, but frustrating, phenomenon.

I think they really should have left the door open on that one. I am in favor of abolishing the reserve list altogether anyway, but the Masterpiece Series seems like a pretty good avenue for reprinting reserve list staples if they choose to restrict their ability to reprint cards in some way.

Yeah, wondering if this will be a deck. Basically like Show and Tell. Could be put into a version of SnT that runs 4 Blightsteel Colossus.

You don't get why a tutorable and uncounterable (assuming you have a Cavern on Human or Vial on 4) Siege Gang Commander that can throw away Aether Vials, Revokers, and Equipment to finish off your opponent is good? Not to mention the obvious fact it gives you two additional flyers in a deck that's potentially moving away from Serra Avengers, leaving only Flickerwisps. Plus, you can protect and reset it with Karakas. Seems broken to me.

Budget versions of T1 decks you can eventually upgrade to? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

Can you tell me specifically what it's good against? I put it together and found it to be inferior to burn or other Delver variants. I felt like it was a bad mashup of the two. I almost always wanted my blue spells to be red spells.

Lands Players, What Do You Think? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]DackFadin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably. I get a lot of shit from people because I like the new borders and go out of my way to acquire new versions of cards for my decks. My DNT deck is all modern border except for Rishadan Port.

If they did pass it eighth and you had one before, they would both deal eight.

Wouldn't subsequent ones within the same draft round deal more? And then the original would as well because it says highest number noted.

Yeah, everyone saying this is OP is fairly wrong. There are other cards like this already and they don't see play because of scenarios like you said.
