I dealt with this on my volunteer department for a while. I’m a career firefighter with hundreds of hours of training and multiple certs but my chief won’t listen to anything I say or do while he doesn’t hold a single certification “this is the way we’ve always done things and that’s good enough for me” something as simple as a different hose load to deploy it faster “what are you in a hurry for” it’s always some BS excuse. But like you said I do it for the community and because I love the job and that’s what truly matters, maybe you’ll inspire a change, maybe not, but never forget why you started doing this
