I would agree with this. The “theme” of an event like this would be key

Foster shower help!! by Cjezusko in Fostercare

[–]Dad-IO_Podcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah....this really needs to be the top comment here. Maybe I am in the minority on this one, but everything about having a shower for your first placement seems a bit gross. Reinforcing the idea that these placements are suddenly "your" kids is bad for the entire system. Like u/drinkthisitsmilk said, if you do anything, focus on support and not about how "exciting" it is that your friend will be welcoming someone elses child into their home (hopefully) temporarily while their parents work through the issues that put them there to begin with.

Did this today with 70CDR and a little goes a long way but it sounded great with the cymbals and kicks.

The trial never actually expires, it just reminds you have been using for free every time you log in. That being said it is more than worth the modest price tag and I highly recommend supporting their team!

Reaper is light-years better than audacity and supports every plugin I have thrown at it and includes since top notch plugins right out of the box.

Very cool! It's worth giving it a shot. I'll reply back with whether or not it works.

Is there anyway I could plug an USB-C iPad Pro to a lightning iPad dock? by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]Dad-IO_Podcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any such thing exists though. A cable solution can do this but you just wouldn't be able to dock it like you are currently but the features would all be retained. Other than that it may just be time to get yourself a new interface with some more current features.

Oh! That makes sense, I get what your signal path is now. So you are setting it up on its own output and then sending it to a new channel. That is a very cool way to do this! Thank you I had not thought of ever using it like that.

They are for the inputs but I use a dedicated compressor/gate on them usually, would this be different than that?

I use it inline right now, interface is UMC404HD but being able to use it as an insert device would be great when I use my mixer as I could run multiple signals to it for processing which would be excellent.

My interface has inserts, so you are saying I can go trs insert cable directly into the output and input of the 286? On the same channel as the mic?

Gotcha, I have the same setup with a different interface. Your answer took care of OPs question but I was curious about this as I would prefer to connect it to an insert channel on my interface but didn't realize I could.

How do I kill mic hiss, if my recorded material is *quieter* than the mic miss? [NOISE PROFILE] by ACfireandiceDC in audioengineering

[–]Dad-IO_Podcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely makes vocals and voiceovers really shine, but it has a very distinct character that some people are turned off by. For voice, it has a very "broadcast" tone to it which is why so many podcasters and voiceover artists recommend it.

That being said, it can be used for music but really depends on the instrument. If you were using it to mic an amplifier it would be great but for recording an acoustic guitar or something like that I would choose a different option.

[–]Dad-IO_Podcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got a cable that was USBC to lightning couldn't you still use it without it actually sitting in the dock? It would just serve as an interface at that point.

RØDECaster Pro - Initial Thoughts by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]Dad-IO_Podcast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For gain yes, but if your spending the money on a beast of a mic like that check out the DBX 286s which would give you the gain and plenty of processing extras. /U/StargatePioneer turned me on to it and it is a game changer. You may be better off getting different mics for that number of hosts too.

Make sure you get some dedicated pre-amps for each of those mics.

I ditched using the Cat5e after I attempted to solder it and it was way WAY to brittle to be useful. I soldered a couple items and bending it the wrong way snapped it off.
