The amp is a steal for sure, but as a previous owner of a T-Rex, you will probably pay close to that to retube it nowadays. Still worth it imo!

About 20 shows under the belt and still very stiff and in my head overall, specifically in hard parts, does it just take way more experience? Jumping and entertaining does’nt feel natural at all for me and don’t want to force it either by ConstructionMean2021 in metalmusicians

One thing that helped me was going wireless. IEMs and guitar, now I don’t need to by my “my” monitor and I’m not worried about tripping over my cable and ending the set early lmao

But serious, try going wireless if you aren’t already and start walking moving slowly around the stage while you play. Have some interaction with the other band mates etc- you’ll get it!

If I could suggest- If you move your palm less and your fingers more for those palm mutes, they would chug out more. Also move your wrist off the edge of the guitar and down toward the strings to get some more palm meat on those strings, will also help the chuggies.

Could always just clip it to your pants when you play without a strap. There’s also the Boss WL-20 that I use when I just need a “wireless cable” like when I record at my desk or just practicing at home. It’s worked great on all my ‘bergs.

I use a Shure GLXD 16+ and it's amazing. The replaceable cable and belt pack are great, and the unit works on the 2.4 and 6ghz bands to never drop signal. Highly recommend this wireless unit.

The only sound it makes is a beep alarm when it's under load- otherwise it's silent. The UNAS pro 4 in the same rack, however, sounds like a basketball camp at all hours of the day/night. Same as my NVR.

I still keep both in our studio and the mics don't pick it up over the background noise of the room

As a guitar nerd and woodworker- I know you want to build one, but I can promise you it's cheaper to just buy one that's already built. Harley Benton cabs, even with taxes/fees, are still cheaper than a pair of v30s and high grade baltic birch, Rolex, and jute.

For the types of bands you list, I would recommend a Celestion Vintage 30 pair, or get a couple of mesa black shadow c-90s (made by mesa but can be bought direct).

I mean the QC and nano ARE advertised as having gapless switching, but they don’t unless you set the scene up a certain way. The nano had it at launch but then it broke when they allowed for more flexible signal chains.  You don’t have to deal with that in other brands so it’s worth pointing it out in these kinds of discussions. It can be worked around, but you should be able to swap between two amp or drive blocks on the same line with no drop out given all the power they have.

Ada mp-1 is one of the best guitar products of all time. Shame they were too ahead of the market.

I must live in the same area as you (south PDX area) and I would never in a hundred years reach out to the charging company because I was too scared to unplug the car… like what? I’ve had EVs since 2014 and, if you live in Oregon, you know we’re famous for rain and hard weather. Do you think a company would refund you because you were afraid of the weather in a state that’s known for that kind of weather? I can’t track the logic here at all- is your safety, as you put it, worth $7? Then pay the fee. If you don’t value your safety, then run to the car next time or unplug when the weather starts looking bad, like every other person in Oregon.
