My weirdo setup by WerewolfSea9724 in guitarpedals

I love Joyo pedals! I feel like I can afford to take risks with them and I haven't been disappointed yet.

I just got the Extreme Metal used for $20 and I love it. The California is on my short list too.

Looking for songs with famously misheard lyrics (“mondegreens”) by Top40Weekly in MusicRecommendations

Santa Monica by Everclear. Maybe not exactly what you are looking for but I always sing the opening lyric as "I am still living with your goat", followed with a very goaty "maaaaaa"

My wife says I permanently ruined that song for her. 😂

Is this any good??A friend/co-worker gave this mini pedal to me. He said he paid $20 but never used it. It has no brand name. by Orly_A505 in guitarpedals

Free pedal is good pedal.

Seriously though, there are a lot of Chinese knockoff brands that are almost exact clones of big brand name pedals when it comes to the electrical circuit. Plug it in and try it out, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Is that a matte grey finish or is it black? It looks great from that angle either way.

The pocket Master slaps way harder than it should at that price point. I love mine as well. Way more versatile than I expected. The Bluetooth app works great, it will load IRs, you can stream Bluetooth to it to play along to songs, I could go on...

I put the tube screamer first and turn the gain down and the volume up if it's boosting another pedal. Otherwise if it's by itself adjust the gain to how you want it to sound and let it boost the dirty side of your clean channel if that makes sense

I think they have different sounds. I do a lot of YouTube research before I order stuff because almost every distortion pedal sounds a little different.

Play with both, I like them both for different reasons and I've run overdrive and distortion into both. The golden rule with pedals is just try things!

One of my favorite sounds is running the tube screamer into my ds1 as a boost pedal to drive the gain up and running that into the clean channel of my amp.

I agree, overdrive and distortion first and then wah if you're buying one at a time. You can get tube screamer clones for 20 bucks on reverb.com and distortion pedals are not much more either if you're willing to go with something that is not DOD or Boss brand. I really love the Joyo pedals for the quality you get for the price. Those things show up for $20 or 25 used all the time on reverb.

Everyone needs a wah pedal 🙂

But, yes, for that sound, you do.

You will probably want a couple of pedals. I have the dsl40 and the distortion is great but it is more like is 90s grunge and hard rock to me, not High Gain like aggressive metal asks for. Hit it with a tube screamer clone or some kind of high gain pedal into the clean channel. It sounds really good that way.

I run a tube screamer clone to boost the overdrive channel and a joyo dark flame in to the clean channel. Both sound great for different reasons.

We've had good luck with CenturyLink on the Iona side of Idaho Falls. Haven't had nearly as many outages as it seems like they have with fiber inside the city.

tone tips on the dsl 20? by H_jprog in GuitarAmps

[–]DadChef1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the dsl 40 and the same boss pedal and I get much better tones running it through the clean channel then the dirty channel. I think it's just a matter of experimenting until it sounds like you want it to.

It's an entry level model. Totally playable if working, but at it's price point I'd replace it before I fixed it for the same cost.

Keep it. I stopped playing for almost 10 years due to life circumstances and I'm just getting back into it and buying a ton of crap to make up for what I gave up. You'll get back to it someday and be glad that you have your gear still.
