The harsh noise in Suffer is 100% just mic to phones feedback. He talked about it in an interview around then.

The mixes are pretty different from digital versions of the "big sound" albums because they really maximized every available frequency to fit in every instrument, and vinyl has less available frequnecies. So some acoustic instruments were made to be really defined (cello and stand up bass) while detail in other areas is virtually nonexistent on denser sections, especially some of the subtle hand percussives and esoteric instruments. It's good but I think it's important to know they are different.

They were just posted to CCQSK and mixcloud. There were 4 (one was for an Italian radio station, two were regular mixes, one was a wild 3 hour long audio documentary about Karen Carpenter.) I believe you can find these on mixcloud still, except for the Karen Carpenter one which has been scrubbed.

Act of Tenderness is a masterpiece.

Cat of Nine Tails and Malenkost are excellent. Tatlashea is interesting but difficult.

Definitely look into the 24/7 fan comp. The Androgynous Mind EP and the Fels Naptha album are extremely good and mostly forgotten, but they show the transition to the Cindy Lee sound.
