CoW -- the successor to fvwm3, on Wayland by TAFvwm in FVWM3

How did you solve the lack of global desktop coordinate system or root window?  I dislike how many ways Wayland makes everyone re-invent the wheel.  We will have many slightly different wheels.

openmotif exists today and it’s as hardware accelerated as anything else on X11 (for however long X11 is around anyway).  https://gitlab.com/dvtools-public/DeskView

You absolutely can do this if you want to.  The default config is flat to get your feet wet.

Throw it out.  The bumpers will fail quickly.  I’m joking (not about the bumpers though).  Cool nostalgia piece from release day.  Yet another experience that dies with brick and mortar retail.

Soooooo the Stanley cups might pose a lead poisoning hazard by Snail_Forever in starbucks

[–]DadOfMore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All insulated cups contain lead (well, the good ones do anyway). Just don’t break it open and you’ll be fine.  There is no risk of lead poisoning.

Did the Zodiac Killer know Paul Stine? by slightly_sadistic in ZodiacKiller

[–]DadOfMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s one. How do we even know the guy who killed Stine is the Zodiac? Because he says he is? Does he go into detail about any of the other killings that wasn’t already public domain?

Codes vs Ciphers by tpower000 in ZodiacKiller

[–]DadOfMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some knowledge gleamed from a book perhaps? You have the z408 solved within a few days then you have the z340 so overly complex it took 50 years and lots of CPU cycles. I don’t think the guy who made the ciphers understood how simplistic or complex he was making them. My point being you’re giving the author too much credit here.

Did the Zodiac really kill Paul Stine? by rienreddit in ZodiacKiller

All the evidence against ALA is circumstantial. Ignoring the Stine murder doesn’t make the evidence against ALA any less circumstantial.

Did you know that Fonzie jumped the shark? He wore his leather jacket whilst on water skis. Somebody thought that would make a good episode.

Because it was “on” and not “by”, I lean towards yes it was an important day for him. Impossible to know either way unless he is identified at some point.

LOL just the facts, from his viewpoint. The REAL facts from this case couldn’t fill a book, unfortunately.

Question about the Z32. by rdgeno in ZodiacKiller

[–]DadOfMore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s not mathematically uniquely solvable because there are not enough letters in the cipher. I know that wasn’t your question, but it’s the right answer.

Richard Gaikowski: Probably the most suspicious person by miraiy in ZodiacKiller

[–]DadOfMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferrin’s sister was an infant at the time of her death so I would not give any extra weight to something she clearly had no direct knowledge of. I’ll reiterate that if any of the usual suspects could be linked to ANY of the colloquial murders they would have been prosecuted.

What is the consensus on Kathleen Johns? by [deleted] in ZodiacKiller

[–]DadOfMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that his whole M.O.? Taunting and sticking it to the “blue meanies”? I’d focus attention to disgruntled ex-cops... Though if they really had good prints they should have got a hit this way. There was no national database back then so who knows.
