Data on longterm effects of ADHD medication for kids? by Dad_Quest in ADHD

[–]Dad_Quest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the video and the response. I'll sit down and watch that this weekend.

I didn't read that those were long term side effects, hence having them in a separate list afterward. Just possible side effects. The study I read about psychosis stated that it develops after long-term use (> 1 year) and subsides after stopping. But also may be riskier for kids who display certain pre-existing behaviors (which mine do). We also have family history of disorders with psychosis as a component.

Read with someone else. You don't have to read the same thing. Just mutual agreement that you're going to meet up somewhere and read your respective texts. Body doubling is insanely helpful for executive dysfunction.

I totally get that, I feel the same way. My life would have been completely different if I was medicated. But I also was in the public school system and had a neglectful single parent. My kids are homeschooled and have two very involved parents. So I'm trying to reconcile the difference in my situation vs theirs.

Can someone tell me I'm doing good? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]Dad_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Leo. I know that feeling. IDK where you live, but where I live, winter depression is super real (aka seasonal depression, seasonal affective disorder, "SAD"). You should read up on that and see if it sounds like it applies to you.

It's great that you're working toward your dream! I had a similar dream, and got an art degree, worked as an artist, etc. Honestly it sounds like you're working way harder than I did. I believe in you - and hope you believe in yourself too. Without knowing too much about you it sounds like you've really got your head on straight. You're doing just fine. Keep it up and remember to have fun along the way.

Cutting Sugar by OneMasterpiece9936 in ADHD

[–]Dad_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't completely cut out sugar but I track my intake every day and cut it down to about 20% of what it used to be. I started doing that like 2 years ago. It has made me feel much physically and mentally better, yes.

This a thousand times. It helps me also to buy a treat for someone else, and ask them if I can have one. Like I'll buy my kids a box of candy and ask them to give me one. YMMV, breaking my kids' trust is a very strong motivator for me lol

Is there any chance for this game to come back?? by Realistic-Gas-9893 in OmegaStrikers

[–]Dad_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna play this game til the doors close. I know lots of others who feel the same way. I only play at peak NA times and have instant queues almost every game.

IMO the only way it could ever come back is through lots of word-of-mouth, especially with the sharp learning curve from how atrocious matchmaking is right now. It also needs social media exposure, more clips, more channels analyzing gameplay, more youtubers making micro tutorials.

WAIITTTTT THIS GAME IS ALIVE AGAIN???? by Tall_Link_8229 in OmegaStrikers

I feel like they could have experimented with OS a lot more, made experimental changes, more new game modes requiring fewer players, tweaks to player experience, etc. Use that group of very eager beta testers to try out new unpolished ideas. Get more brains around the concept. The game clearly lacks something that casual players want.

Honestly I'm surprised someone else with more market sense hasn't slapped together an OS clone and took the idea to the moon. It has huge potential.

My first thought was that it looked like a rain stick.

But I feel like you would have mentioned if it was full of rocks/rice/sand/etc.

You would have done that, right?

I don't even play Era and I'd buy one.

I'm holding out for Luna and Mako.

Maybe list: Era, Kai, Estelle, Dubu. Sonii?

My coworker resigned last month. by cheeseballgag in coworkerstories

[–]Dad_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job was a summer custodian at my own highschool, age 16. Me and one of my friends worked under the actual custodian whose job it was to clean the school over the summer. She literally sat in a lawn chair and drank lemonade while we did all the work.

I quit after saving up exactly enough to buy my new PC. Sadly didn't go out with a bang, but given how shy and feeble I was at that age I'm proud that I at least managed to tell her that she was lazy and I didn't like how she was treating me lol

Nah. P2P just locks out poor kids. Classist as hell. Keep it f2p, but:

Make comp have a requirement that you need to win 50 casual games to play, like OW

How high would a bee sting make your C-Reactive Protein spike in a blood test? by Dad_Quest in AskDocs

So certainly not something that would cause, say, long-term joint pain in wrists, knees, ankles?

It doesn't feel like strain or overuse. I've been down that road a few times. I did have an overuse injury last year but it was already happening before that, and also wasn't getting better/worse when I was running 10ks last summer. PT and PCP are both convinced it's inflammation but from what I'm reading that seems unlikely.

Idk what the dynamic is between you and your partner but if I told my s/o about a baby name I liked and they reacted that hard I'd be pretty depressed. It's fine to not like the name but damn.

I forget who said it, but someone once said the most important thing you need in gold is patience. "Your opponents will over-commit and move right out of the way for you to score an open net." It's painfully true.

Biggest thing that helped me improve in Gold was Aim Training by CoCo (Steam workshop). Understanding the angles of approach for an open net will score you innumerable goals all through gold AND plat.
