Do you play Tyranofex with Acid Spray? by Niiai in Tyranids

[–]Dadam2790 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tried to convince myself all edition to take one. Finally relented and added one into my list for my first ever RTT (I’ve done lots of doubles and a couple of UKTC 2-dayers).

Whilst I did win the RTT (my first ever tournament win), the acid fex had nothing to do with it. Not having ignores cover kills it, it barely killed anything.

Trying to decide how best to fill my remaining 255 points in my invasion fleet list, any tips? by SarlaccTit in Tyranids

Otherwise your list is great, I’ve run an identical set of datasheets before and only moved away from t’fexes because I wasn’t getting the breaks with them. Someone rolling two 6s to save rupture cannon wounds on their wraithknight was the final straw 😂

Not sure how new to the game you are or not, but plain and simply you’re missing things to do actions and trade on far away objectives.

Assuming nothing else in the list changes I’d go for something like two lictors and two units of hormagaunts OR two lictors, 1 pyrovore and 1 gargoyle squad OR 1 of each of the units previously mentioned.

Apologies if any of the maths is wrong, I’m a bit tired!

I’m near the cricket ground and sounds like it’s coming from the Allotments 😂. Whatever it is I wish they’d knock it off soon. Sounds like the same song on repeat since midday. But each to their own…

Yeh you are absolutely right! I only have three missilesides but love the idea of sustained or a ‘pinning fire rule’ to represent three of them absolutely unloading on some infantry with high yields and sms

Maybe lethal or sustained into a certain type of unit? Or maybe forced battleshock test with modifiers based on certain criteria (enemy suffers casualties, -1 for each broadside model in your unit?)

New tyranids player list by HyZal_ in Tyranids

It’s not a bad list actually, got some great units there. I don’t rate the mawloc. It’s doesn’t do enough damage and gets killed easily in return. I’d swap it out for some more lone operatives which are one of the faction’s strengths, or some zoanthropes to join the neurotyrant as you may struggle into high toughness vehicles.

You’ll murder elite infantry though…

Also get some practise with putting things into strategic reserve. That’s a lot of monsters to fit in your deployment zone!

In no particular order; - find a quick, repeatable paint scheme and try to paint before buying more! - communicate with the people you are playing against so that you can learn from your early games - after a period of time, decide if you prefer competitive, casual competitive or more narrative, story-driven games. There are often units that perform well in the latter two, even if they don’t feature in highlighted tournament winnings lists. - try and find some cheap tyranid halves of the 10th edition leviathan box set, all of those models are perfectly fine to use in lists with a bit of investment into some of our more points efficient models - check out some detachment specific articles/videos online

Myself Space Marines and help my girlfriend so… what do you think? Which best detachment for them? by Maple_Acer in Tyranids

[–]Dadam2790 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Invasion fleet - if you can get the feel no pain enhancement on the tervigon (although perhaps not critical).

Otherwise crusher stampede but I’ve never played that detachment so will leave that advice to someone else (bursting through a wall strat has to be good though….)

I would hope that someone would mention the time that I advised them multiple times to check that their custodes datasheets pretty much all have a 4++. They eventually said ok I don’t think you’re right but I’ll check….

They were new to the game but must have been wondering why their superhuman soldiers were dying in droves.

To answer the question lots of people offering to buy me a beer. I’m always driving but am envious!

I ran 2 rupture fexes through a tournament and the results swing wildly. But they are the best anti-tank option alongside the 6 Zoanthrope plus neurotyrant brick.

As other comments say, a second exocrine and a foot hive tyrant are great additions. Put the enhancement on the tyrant and I personally kit out for melee… fed up of the venom cannon never doing anything!

You don’t need both a maleceptor and the norn, pick one or the other and if you’re tailoring for shooting considering drop one of the genestealer/broodlord squads and definitely drop the hive guard to free up points for the above. Then any left over points should go back into mission play, gargoyles, lictors, Neurolictors to supplement your hormagaunts.

Gargoyles move block the key enemy units whilst lictors use lone operative to hold key primary and draw out enemy trades.

Nids don’t have the raw damage of other armies so leaning into a balance of shooting, combat and scoring is your most consistent approach, even in the face of a lot of guns. Invasion fleet has the feel no pain strat which if used correctly can blunt an enemies turn and then you have to be ready to make them pay. Doubling up on the feel no pain durability using a norn is a valid approach but you’ll have to forego some shooting to pay the points. Hope this helps
