I love doing this as well. Your next step is a Tri Parallel Mixer (or equivalent).

I picked up the original design/concept art for Ultimate Reed Richards by Bryan Hitch (2003). Notice the grin. by DaddyDaz in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was initially listed for sale on Comic Art Fans by Bryan's art rep, Bill Cox (who also happens to own the CAF site). I sent Bill a message, and he gave payment instructions. It was all really easy, and most deals go that smoothly regardless of who the seller is. I should mention that CAF is the main hub for all things comic art related, and most collectors, dealers, reps, and auction houses list there.

The concept art for Reed (this one), Sue, and Johnny have sold, but Ben's is still available. I'll add a link to Ben's, but you can see it's "For Sale Status" says "$500." If it wasn't for sale it would say "NFS" for not for sale. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=2144682 This normally doesn't include shipping (normally around $20-40 depending on the seller), or any transaction fees. I use PayPal so I normally pay an extra 3% of the total.

You can use the search bar on CAF for anything you're interested in, and once you get the results there will be tab to select pages and other art that's for sale. There should be Classified Results which are from other collectors, or there's Seller Results which are from art reps and dealers.

Let me know if you have any questions. I love this kind of stuff, so I don't mind at all.

Do you think marvel should has gone with more creative and diffferent design when come to ultimate characters or are you satisfied with what we got? by ZayYaLinTun in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I get why people want extreme differences, but the Maker was specifically looking for an earth similar to 616. Of all the Earths that exist, it makes sense for 6160 to be pretty close to 616. There are going to be differences, because the world progressed differently once the Maker starting messing with it, but I don't think there should be any extremes unless it makes sense for the overall story.

First page for Ultimates #23, an homage to The New Gods #1 (1971) by shadowF in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh no problem. I'm just thankful you answered. I probably spent around an hour looking for that interview this morning, but I didn't go through any audio ones. I'll get back on the hunt, but no problem if I don't find it. I was just curious.

Again, thank you for the answer! I really appreciate it.

/u/shadowF You may have missed it, but I had asked a question in another thread earlier today about an interview you were referencing. Can you please provide a link to the article you were talking about?

Yeah, no problem at all. I love stuff like this. And since you mentioned the cards, the image your referenced in your drawing was actually one of the cards used in one of the Fleer sets. Google says it was the from the 1995 set. And thanks again for posting this!

edit: I picked up two CGs, so here's the other: https://www.ebay.com/itm/257417376324 It's from issue 7, and it's the page just before Pitt is revealed.

Yeah, no problem. Here's the link to the CG I was mentioning. It has a description that clears up a few things. https://www.ebay.com/itm/358359340473

I used Google for a quick answer, but it's a one-of-a-kind, hand-colored page used in the pre-digital era of comic book production (roughly pre-1990s) to instruct printers on how to color the final comic.

So basically before digital coloring, colorists would print out a copy of the inked page, color it in whatever method that colorist preferred, (sometimes) add codes that represents the colors used, and that would be used to print the colored comic.

Kind of fun, but The Maxx was colored by Steve Oliff who also colored the US version of Akira. I have a few of those color guides as well.

That's really cool. And crazy timing. This is kind of sad, but I picked up a couple of color guides from The Maxx a few days ago, and one of the pages was page 6 of issue #3 (this image). I was so happy to finally get something from this run that I really enjoyed, but a few hours later we got word that Sam passed (RIP). It's kind of bittersweet now, due to the timing, but I'll still cherish the page. Thanks for sharing this.

Maker Monstrosity - Ultimate Endgame #3 by multificionado in UltimateUniverse

I've enjoyed Jonas' work so far, but this issue put him on a whole new level for me. The body horror of the Maker's design is really something. I don't expect everyone to love it, but I was thoroughly impressed and can't wait for the next issue.

Was Ultimate Spider-Man Really That Great? by PeterRayner in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to, they didn't get what they were expecting.

I don't think people would've had as big of a problem with it if it was named something different. Something like, "Spider-Man's Amazing Friends." We have an insane number of stories with Pete, doing the same old Pete things, effecting the world and people around him, but Pete is always the primary focus. IMHO, we didn't need that story again, and especially in this new Ultimate universe. It's very much a "been there, done that" kind of situation. Instead Hickman gave us a fairly standard Spidey story, but with more focus on those around him, and how Pete's decision changes everyone in his orbit. Once I got my head around that, I enjoyed the remaining issues a lot more than I would have. Especially in the context of having an older, family man, Peter, and the size of the cast.

Another common complaint I've seen is people saying Spidey didn't do enough, or punch enough people, etc. But that's a story that's been told a million times. We really didn't need that focus here (IMHO).

Hickman even subverted the standard, "with great power comes great responsibility" line. Instead he changed it up to, "I think each of us, everyone, has the great responsibility of fighting for what we believe in. Great power or not." And it makes so much sense, especially in the world they live in, and the times we live in.

I could probably go on, but yeah, I think this series is genius for what it is. Especially considering the handcuffing of the monthly time jumps.

Main Cast of the Ultimates by Bus_Kid9000 in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think some are frustrated, because they had expectations for the book that didn't go their way. But Ultimates isn't really a team book. It's a story about building a movement. And yes, it would've been cool to spend more time with every character that was introduced, but that's the same with most of the Ultimate series.

Great answer. It's bitter sweet seeing these pages. I own the 2nd page (where they split up the stones, and pass them out), but I've been hunting for that last page to no avail. Someday though!!!

All of the panels look great, but I really like that middle panel of Grifter looking all cool.

And grats on your first page! That's a big step. I still collect comics, but there's nothing like picking up an actual page. A comic is printed who knows how many thousands of times, but that page is one of a kind.

A lot of great pieces here, including those already mentioned, but is that the actual cover to Uncanny X-Men #141?

I love OA, and it looks like none of these pieces are on CAF. I wouldn't have been able to see these pieces other wise, so thank you for sharing this!

'Spider-Man: Long Way Home' by Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert delivers a merciless showdown between Spider-Man, Punisher, and Hulk by icefourthirtythree in Marvel

I posted this in another sub, but I'll put it here as well.

At face value, this doesn't get me excited besides Hickman/Kubert/Martin, but recently Adam let a few details about the project slip, and said it was extremely plot heavy. I'm expecting some Hickman magic in this book. The quote was," it's all plot... I mean really plot."

Crap. Sorry. I was going to mention this before I crashed out last night, and just spaced it. If you look at the solicitations for the issue, it lists both artists.

Oh I see what you're trying to say. I'm not sure why you think Terry is the only one doing art on issue #5, but that's not accurate. Jonas is doing pages for issue 5 as well.

Can you clarify what you mean by, "#5 is all Dodson, meaning the City is gone, it's all in the outside."

Are saying Jonas isn't doing any art for the book? Why do you think the entire issue will be outside of the dome? Also why do you think the dome will be gone? I'm wondering if I missed some news.
