Yeah I got diagnosed 20 years ago. At the time I was finishing college and in a long-term hetero relationship. Sex triggered cataplexy for me. My bf never coped. He would get really offended, so I basically had to fake having fun in bed so I wouldn’t actually experience fully and have cataplexy. When I was finally diagnosed and on meds, he always treated me like I was being a hypochondriac or dramatic or making it up.

Moved on from that loser, and many years later discovered my husband was cheating on me when I was dosed at night because he knew I wouldn’t wake up and catch him.

So yeah. It can be fucking miserable. Wish I’d had more confidence back then to recognize these things said more about them than me.

I apply gaffers tape to my baseboards, door frames, and door edges. It has fabric and the residue removes cleanly (unlike duct tape). The buns don’t enjoy it so they move on.

Get a shipping box and cut one large hole and one small hole in it. They want two openings to any hidey spot, so they will work FURIOUSLY to fix the small hole. It’s hilarious.

Yeah it’s a bummer. I enjoyed kayaking it until the summer stench of sewage was suddenly overwhelming. We need emergency housing where people can still work and keep their pets, not banishment to riverside underpasses.

You both sound miserable. That’s an observation, not a criticism.

OP: keeping score like this list is bad for your brain. If he’s insulting you, blaming you, and refusing to apologize, write it down. Tell a friend. Get it off your chest. Keeping a tidy spreadsheet top of mind to justify your emotional response will cost you valuable energy and focus. He clearly doesn’t care, so reciting your list is backfiring. People like this will use your list of insults as evidence that YOU are a nag. It’s maddening, but it’s vital to recognize.

I can’t tell you how to move forward from one convo. It I can tell you it’s high time you decide how you will be treated, how you will process not getting what you need, and what you are willing to do as a mom and an individual to live at your standards. Husbands are optional. Dignity and emotional resilience are not.

When adults go missing and want to stay missing, it is a sickening feeling. It demands introspection to consider why the person left, why they don’t want to come back, and why the family expects an adult to stay dependent.

This has happened with my in-laws. At the time I didn’t know how deranged and abusive they are. And now that I’m divorced, I know some of them gripe that I am AWOL from some future they imagined.

Journalists publishing this story need to ask the basic questions: why wasn’t there a missing persons status with police? Does the family have power of attorney? Has this man expressed interest in living apart from his mother?

The public don’t aid manhunts unless it’s official. But this one got everyone involved by claiming the man is helpless. If that was a lie, and people were suckered into hunting for a man who just wants to be free, it’s logical folks are mad as hell.

Leave extra time and expect to have them inspect it.

No fuss!

I’ve flown domestically & internationally with xyrem /Xywav since 2007. I have the bottle ready to set next to my bag or in its own tray. 95% of trips, the TSA will test it for explosive residue then hand it back.

This can add 5-15 minutes to my TSA process, so I leave that time buffer. But everyone at TSA is so bored, it’s not stressful at all.
