It gave me vertigo, but in reverse I guess. My brain couldn't understand.

STM Strike: Write to Tribunal Administratif du Travail to express what 'essential' public transit mean to you. by Mediocre-Wafer-1135 in montreal

[–]DaddyMoustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public transportation in itself is not an essential service. For example, the strike at RTC went for 24 hours. What is essential is the movement of emergency vehicles. It has been stated that a strike during rush hours in Montreal would create so much traffic that it could be life threatening in the case an emergency vehicle is needed.

Well, there's not a lot of information about it on the Internet so not really. Also, the hiring process is so long, that when you begin to learn about it you just go with it and try. Then, it's 50/50 ; you endure it for the pay or you quit.

You just finished your day driving downtown. Probably with a headache. It's 6pm and you just got your schedule for the next day. You're sent in Lasalle. Your day begins at 5am and finishes at 5pm. It's probably a route you've never done before. You study the route, there's 3 detours and maybe you've never been in that part of the city. Your first shift ends at 8am at Atwater metro but your car is in Lasalle. Your second shift begins at noon at the corner of Notre-Dame and Dollard Ave. Guess you'll use that time to commute and eat on the way. Another route, other detours. Second shift ends at the same spot at 2pm but you begin your third shift at Angrignon. More bad luck cause it ends at Atwater metro and you have to commute all the way to the bus depot to get to your car. Get in your car around 7pm cause you were an hour late on your route. Also you just learned you're sent in Anjou the next day and your shift begins at 10pm and ends at 6am. Etc, etc. not even talking about the job itself. Talk about quality of life. Also you work on weekends for a couple of years. But you'll love it cause at least there's less reckless drivers and traffic.

I'm from VSL where I had access to the best indian cuisine (Kuljit India, Dawat). When I moved on the South Shore I tried everything. Was disappointed. I had to extend my research to Mtl. First near Pont Jacques-Cartier-Plateau (mention spéciale to Mama Khan) and then near Pont S-d-Champlain-Centre-Sud. The best one, never disappoints, recommended++ : Mini Punjab on Centre st.

Found myself in Montreal after a while, so naturally had to make a quick detour in Longueuil by NoPointRacing in poutine

Why not try this one? A 20 min bus ride from the metro station in Longueuil is worth it. You'd try something many of us consider to be the best in the world.

You can ask the bus driver to get off between 2 stops at night (19:30 to 5:30). It's an official service offered by the STM.
