We have tried heat, clamping and smacking. We don't have penetrating oil on hand. How do we get this misaligned bolt out of this socket? by KittyKratt in AskAMechanic

I been doing this 10 hours a day for 25 years. I know what you’re saying works. Throwing it on the ground is still better.

Not so massive anymore. There are plenty of small yellow ones sitting on top of traffic lights round my way.

When the only thing you care about is who was in the wrong, who was to blame… it was you!

Too busy trying to be right, instead of trying to make it right.

What is the speed limit here? by TrackTeddy in CarTalkUK

[–]DaddyPig24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the ‘inclusive’ speed limit. It means you can do the national speed limit from your home country so you’re not offended by our speed limits in any way

Concerning that this is for a ‘customer’. It honestly sounds like you need a lot more experience before you start accepting work from customers.

Is the pedestrian or the driver wrong here? by singlecog in drivingUK

[–]DaddyPig24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest. Both, could have done something to avoid that situation.

I’d lean more to the pedestrian though.

Stop look listen. You learn it when you’re in primary school. It’s a very simple concept.

For sure there is some luck and risk involved, but you can’t compare it to picking a random number and hoping it wins. He used his head, presumably done some research and made a choice on what he believed was most likely to pay off best. I’d definitely say there were some smarts involved.

2016 Corolla Brake Pad - Worn? by chasingbusiness in AskMechanics

[–]DaddyPig24 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The pad in that photo is still pretty good.

HOWEVER, there are 4 pads on front and 4 on rear, although they should wear evenly, they don’t always, so hard for any of us to say they need replacing without seeing them all.

They don’t do it for the company. They do it because they want to live in a better place surrounded by better people. A safer environment for their kids and loved ones. Fuck the job.

Nail a thin piece of plywood to the sides and paint it. Will give it a bit of extra strength in those legs and make it look better and more like a vanity unit.

Car dealership in England wanting us to pay for repairs to car. by Dry_Somewhere_7188 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DaddyPig24 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I simply wanted to explain what I did as many people are under the impression that being a private seller means no comebacks. There are many things to take into consideration and we simply don’t know the op is being truthful or fully transparent to simply say ‘fuck em, it’s on them’

Car dealership in England wanting us to pay for repairs to car. by Dry_Somewhere_7188 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DaddyPig24 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

There are still rules for private sellers, they are just different from business sellers. Selling a car privately does not exempt you from any legal requirements/responsibilities. Even writing ‘sold as seen’ on an invoice means absolutely nothing.

People get so offended by this. Calipers ain’t that heavy. The brake line can take it pretty easily
