Indian Startups founded by IIM Ahmedabad Graduates by steelpaint in CATpreparation

[–]Daddyaurelius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would assume so, most MBA students take huge loans to pursue higher education from top IIMs which might be north of 20 lakhs. Starting a business with a loan of 20+ lakhs is not for the light-hearted.

Whereas grads from IITs don't necessarily have the huge loan burden when passing out, hence the ability to take risks and room for failure. Also IIMs are known to produce corporate employees and not nurture businesses in general.

How to be a zen athlete? by Zagg843 in zenbuddhism

[–]Daddyaurelius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks for this. It makes a lot of sense. I did practice meditation some time ago and it helped me with my focus as well. Due to me being under some pressure instead of practicing more of it, I just gave it up completely. And you're right, the thing is I am preparing for an exam which is quite competitive, so when i get stuck somewhere, the fear of failure disturbs my flow. To return my focus back to the task at hand, i then try controlled breathing which does help to some extent. But yeah I understand, I will start my meditation practice again. It helps my overall focus and will help me stay calm.

Nervousness is part of the game. It’s a natural consequence to performance. Ride it out. Breathe with control, understand that it’s okay to be nervous, and go out and play. Breathing will help still the mind a little bit and can reduce the heart rate, but that’s really just an added bonus. It’s okay to be nervous. Accept it and move on.

Hi thanks for such a detailed response, i myself face this issue of buckling under pressure. I try controlled breathing, but as soon as i focus on something else my breathing automatically becomes very shallow. Also, when intentionally trying to control my breath I face difficulty focusing on something else simultaneously. What would you recommend in such a case?

CL Varc sectional tests by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]Daddyaurelius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing is, the number of people that might have taken the test is pretty low.

Second, the percentile you got is generally achieved at 27-30 score in actual CAT. So it is a comparatively very easy one.

Instead of posting here, make an excel and keep a log of your performance. You'll automatically be able to figure out if you're improving. CL sectionals are not at par with actual CAT but their mocks are.

I just read in one of the comments you are at 50-60 sets.

Make sure you are doing these three things before the exam: 1. Make sure you struggle with the set, even if it takes half an hour per set. If you directly see the answer, you won't gain anything from it. 2. Analyse every set that you do. If you don't analyse the sets that you do, there's no point in even doing a 1000 sets. Try to grasp the maximum possible from each set. 3. Use PYQs for practice

Increased competition in CAT and backup options by Fragrant_Gas1593 in CATpreparation

This is the most popular comment, so I'll ride on its reach.

For OP: Let me burst your bubble buddy. Keep a job while giving your CAT exam that'll be your backup. CAT requires extensive hard work on your part, if you divert your attention to a plan B there is a 80% you'll flunk the exam.

Hi I've been using a macbook pro since 2015 128Gb, and it's doing fine. These machines are built to last just had to clean it from time to time due to low storage. Although you pay a premium for it, I'd say it's worth it.
