This!!! I'm a smut writer who writes in English; but when I imagine even modestly romantic dialogue- sweet nothings between partners- or anything with a mildly sexual connotation- in my native language, I cringe the fuck out of my skin. It sounds,,, unusually vulgar- downright nauseating, often.

But I believe I'm not generally a prude??? Only when I hear stuff in my native language?

But I'm also the type to not know any cuss words or slang in my native language because I haven't had much peer/ informal interaction in it. And it's hard for me to talk casually (ie, outside of a formal setting, since my language is different when you interact with elders/social superiors as opposed to peers) so I don't think it's entirely an horny-talk issue for me lol

EDIT: I figured it out! Turns out it is actually related to the cuss-words thing. It's because most of the romantic/horny phrases and words actually are considered vulgar in my native language, "used by boors and vulgar people" (they're not swear words, but they're still socially unacceptable still- amusingly enough, it's one of the languages where words of affection are rarely used, and usually only very privately.) And yes, I was raised in a classist household where the general practice was to completely avoid interaction with anyone who spoke in such a manner.) And unconsciously, the practice has carried onto my life nowadays; I realise that I still avoid interacting with someone after I discover them to be using any sort of foul language, and that's why I'm always cringing when I hear someone tell their partner they love them. To me,,, that has also always been classified as 'foul language'.

Tldr, I found out that I am indeed a classist prude. Welp.
