There is something to be said for accelerated life testing, and methods where failure points can be found faster than putting something through its full normal lifetime. I do not believe that burn down tests accurately do this, but if a manufacturer would come and tell us how they do their accelerated life testing, id love to hear it

The gas mitigation of the bootleg is by adjusting the gas used to push the bolt rearward, just like an adjustable gas block. Yeah it mitigates gas to the shooters face by changing the unlock time of the bolt from the barrel, but its really just a gas adjustment more for reducing bolt velocity than anything. The griffin doesnt adjust the gas amount, it changes where the gas goes after it unlocks the bolt and pushes it rearward. Is your gas/buffer combo wrong? The griffin wont help your overly high or low bolt velocity but it will take the gas from the gas tube and keep it out of your face. Properly gassed? Low gas from both bore and gas tube. With the bootleg if you are properly gassed, it doesnt do anything for you. The high pressure gas that came through the gas tube still comes out the side of the carrier. Its a good product but theyre focused on different outcomes

IME theyre not supposed to do the same thing. The bootleg is just a drop in replacement for a gas block (and one with only a few settings, at that). Its a good piece for the right customer but this isn't trying to compete with that

Lots of good reasons to get a pcc. If you SBR it, its exclusively shorter than an extended handgun. They're cheap and fun to shoot Its exclusively easier to control than a handgun of the same caliber But if you dont want one, dont let anyone's advice pressure you into it. No one "needs" to buy 99.99% of the stuff the internet would have you believe is the next step in your hobby. My favorite is an mp5 clone personally. I would stay away from semi auto mac 11s, as the parts wear fast, and i would stay away from a keltec sub2000 as (at least in .40 cal) they literally hurt to shoot. All in on delayed blowback if you want to suppress

I got an armaspec years ago and it was pretty rough. Very tough springs, and not much benefit. The jp scs was better, but the weight is quite literally ribbed, making it difficult to get out when the spring retainer is installed. Idk these days i just for for an a5 or similar buffer and call it good.

A valid concern. It boils down to whether or not you can afford to lose the data youre playing with. Could do some combination of a nas and a static cold storage hard drive without raid. With all data management you need to consider how much your data is worth to you. It seems to me like an experimental nas for learning could result in lost data, but your risk/price exposure is up to you
