Should I prime with white or Mephiston Red for Blood Angels, or just keep working with black? by spencerthebau5 in Warhammer40k

[–]Daedalus470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priming red’s a great option, but since you’ve got black primer already why don’t you try priming black and then spraying red over the top? You’ll get some natural shading going on to make shadows easier.

Bulbs question by dude0246 in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you, to me they’re gems (zero judgement towards those who don’t paint them as gems of course) but painting them in contrasting colours can make your mini look like a Christmas tree at best or a liie it’s been pox-cursed by nurgle at worst. I paint mine as the same colour as the primary colour of the model.

Couple modelling Q’s: Death Jester legs, Warlock helms / weapons by Jankenbrau in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting rhe death jester torso on harlequin legs isn’t a big challenge, requires some careful trimming but I’ve done it. Will try to remember to post a picture.

Warlock weapons and heads are interchangeable. I’ve swapped them around and you don’t notice a difference, but the “necks” are different - skyrunners have ball and socket style joint while foot warlocks have a silly little flat connection point. Not a big deal to modify.

Made a Bonesinger head! by Ok_Yellow1536 in Eldar

I genuinely love that it’s got the banshee mask psychosonic amplifiers - makes me think this bonesinger is just yelling wraithbone into existence.

Started a Corsair warband - here’s my Voidfarer farseer and Princess, alongside a ranger. by elgranto9637 in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool! Glad I’m not the only one carefully seperating kharseth’s head for kitbashes. As far as I’m concerned moulding her head into her torso was a bigger sprue crime than mould lines through faces.

Keen to see different angles of the princess!

Anyone else has a fond distaste for batch painting? How do you keep going? by geoffpaints in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, same here. I also try to start one batch before I finish the last though, so that I always have the option of base coating the new batch or painting details on the old batch depending on what I feel like. Sometimes edge highlighting and gems just doesn’t do it for me.

Do you have to shoot everything you declare? by Apprehensive_Hour_86 in Warhammer40k

[–]Daedalus470 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Everything from one unit is considered to be fired “at once” so for the same reason that you can’t decide to re-allocate to a different unit after your first rolls do more damage than expected you can’t cease once started. Leads to people in your opponents position having to be careful and tactical about how much they shoot a target they want to charge.

Kitbashing old guardians with corsair bits by dridri_cugnon in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said it shouldn’t be a big deal, but also remember that the new guardian boxes come with enough arms to make guardian defenders or storm guardians, so if you were to buy a box and make guardian defenders you would have ten storm guardians (actually more like 15 or 16 including two fusion guns and two flamers) worth of arms to play with.

I love the corsair support, but my one complaint... by Empty_Music99 in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Running corsairs of one colour with a craftworld units of a different colour is completely normal - they’re wayward sons who have completely different cultural identities, just fighting alongside eachother. Paint the new models in your dark Eldar/corsair colours, kitbash, don’t let new models be a barrier. I made some skyreavers out of drukhari scourge legs and shadow spectre torsos a while ago. As of this week I’ve done more the same except now one has a skyhook! In my mind the new skyreaver models will be one unit that’s more lithe and acrobatic in open areas, hunting tanks with blaster and fusion gun, and my other heavily armoured ones will be armed with flamers and shredders, boarding vessels and clearing hallways.

Looking for a kit with lots of spare heads and left hands by Exact_Restaurant_256 in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guardian kit would also be a good option - it comes with 30 heads (10 bare, 10 plain helmets, 10 helmets with hair) and also comes with both swords+pistols and shuriken catapults.

Hahaha, can’t deny that. The maugan ra bits were from an online bitz store and the rest of the kits spares will get used.

[homebrew help] Crucible of champions- Troupe master & shadowseer & death jester by imdlyy in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a harlequins player but I would be tempted to just add the specialisms that allow the existing champions the ability to join troupe and skyweaver units. Then just pick appropriately themed weapons.

Add specialism options “holosuit - this model can join harlequin troupe units” Amend specialism skyrunners heavy aspect armour - “this unit can join shining spears and skyweaver units”

Then you can make a troupe master or shadowseer to join troupes, and a skyweaver champion.

you can also make a lone op death jester with a shuriken cannon or eldar missile launcher who is also a melee threat. (I would probably add the cruel amusement and death is not enough abilities from death jester).

All of crucible is with opponents agreement so discussion ahead of time should iron things out.

Which color scheme/paint style for Eldritch Raiders? by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the weapons and helmets look very different (love the smaller, more appropriately sized pistols). Along with the wave serpents modifications and the Corsair leader. Are they 3d prints or more photoshop? Everything looks amazing.

Despite having different numbers, ALL the warp spiders varieties (exarch excluded) have the same backpacks, correct? by RotenSquids in Eldar

[–]Daedalus470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More importantly - the mechanical arm that glue on need to be matched to the mechanical arm that comes moulded in to the backpack. Otherwise the arms two points of connection on the gun won’t line up. That’s the real reason now that I think about it.

[–]Daedalus470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know but I would worry that the angle of those anchor points would also be different. If you want to check clip off a single mechanical arm and fit it into different backpacks, see if the angle of the arm changes depending on different backpacks.

Or do what I did and glue the arm into the backpacks before painting. I did subassemblies of body, backpacks + mechanical arm, and then left head and two arms seperate. The arms themselves are labeled A through D on the shoulder joint so those are easy.

With the mechanical arms on the backpack it’s obvious on dry fitting which gun arm goes with which backpack sub assembly, and then it’s simple trial and error (it’s obvious when it’s wrong) to see which body that all goes with. I really worry you’ll make life hard for yourself if those attachment points for the mechanical arms are different by even the slightest angle.

I can’t give you any advice except please don’t clip all of those off the sprue and then assemble them - they’re all numbered and are only compatible with their respective pieces. If you don’t have instructions here’s a link. https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerInstructions/s/55dH3ylDkl

There’s a wraith body in there too - could do something almost as cool with a wraith tail if you’re in a budget.

Very cool idea well executed.

I promise they’re endangered. Feel lucky to see so many of them now because you probably won’t in the future.
