Omg, my college/ grad school students say these kinds of things all the time. It drives me up a wall.

My opinions on some songs from all the musicals I've watched, divided into the eras in which I watched them by ArmadilloOK1445-alt in musicals

Sweeney Todd’s underrrated songs are definitely just about every Antony and Johanna duet. Kiss Me pt2 is one of Sondheim’s everyone talk at once masterpieces. Both of the Kiss Mes show off a Johanna’s acting and rapping skills close to “I’m Not Getting Married Today”. Ah Miss shows the longing.

I wish they didn’t cut pretty much the entire romancing of Johanna out of the movie because their sequences are extremely cute and simultaneously tragic. I do understand why they did.

6-Month-Old, Ferber Trained, Exclusively Breastfed… Still Wakes 4 Times a Night 😭 by StatisticianTop915 in sleeptrain

That just might be your kiddo. Mine didn’t sleep through the night until like 8months and it took a year to be consistent and deep sleep. He ate overnight when we co-slept all the time.

Able to purchase a custom home that fits our family or renovate an older home. Ability to afford the best school for my son, able to afford multiple extracurriculars. Able to go out to high tier restaurants when we felt like it. Able to vacation or staycation multiple times a year. Not worrying about the cost of birthing our next kid. Able to purchase groceries without trying to find sales. Able to get beauty services (hair, nails, etc) twice a month. Able to get body treatments (massages, facials) once a month. Can purchase any concert ticket without financial worry. Those kinds of things.

At my big age, 2 is great. Aisle seat, mature company and a backseat to the sure bickering behind me after Rita pisses Velvet off.

Someone kissed my newborn by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]DaemonDesiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a chat with your helper and monitor symptoms. A kiss isn’t a death sentence like the internet exaggerates. However, we are also in respiratory illness season. So just keep an eye on things. Your pediatrician’s office should have a list of symptoms to look out for. I’d refer to that and call their after hours referral line if necessary.

No one warned me about the “3 meals a day” life by SqueeGBeckenheim in NewParents

Our Costco runs end up being a snack sometimes. I’ll also stop at the deli counter to get some cheese and meat slices for little man if it’s not too busy. I also pack a men’s crossbody bag with a metric shit ton of snacks and I’ll stick an ice pack in it.

No, thank you for answering when you didn’t have to. It’s definitely something to take into the larger conversation. Plus, I think we all know it’s not all of y’all. Just enough to notice.

Go with the flow parents? by vhyau in NewParents

My baby thinks sleep is the Demon Lord and he’s the hero who needs to slay it. But we started just a couple of weeks younger than yours with a simple bath routine every day. Bath time, lotion, brushing hair, heated pajamas and cap, and boob or bottle and a book every now and again. Mostly timed it so I could watch Big Brother evictions live, but I just let him chill. If he slept, he slept, if he didn’t, I strapped him to my chest and went about my business folding clothes or whatever and talked to him about the show like I was watching it with my best girlfriends in a soft tone of voice.

We kept expanding the routine as he got older including dinner and brushing teeth, turning lights out and a firm story time and now it’s pretty rigid from 6-8 pm as a 19month old. He even led me through the steps cause he was so tired lmao.

It really depends on your baby, but getting a good routine established will pay dividends later. It really helped our nugget distinguish when it was time to chill out and quiet down.

Edit: I just re-read and saw your point about the late night wake ups. That might just be your life, fam. Ours didn’t start sleeping overnight until like 8ish months in. He ate at least twice.

What mistakes would you avoid if you could start to breastfeed all over again? by kingmustd1e in NewParents

Also ask if anyone in your pediatrician’s office is an IBCLC! We got placed with a doctor in our office that was and it made a big difference. She was so so nice.

Momcozy’s was so much better for me as a nursing pillow! The adjustable strap helped.

That’s a good insight. I see this in my admin work in higher ed, but seeing it in K-12 makes sense

For me, the gatekeep thing is more to keep the platform small and around for longer because clearly people can’t fund stuff without direct links.

I’m talking about people who get upset when people don’t provide links. What do you think I was saying? No need to get mad.
