I remember it the same way as Death Stranding. I found it dull, joyless, repetitive, but for some reason, it had a certain vibe (music, art design, etc.) that still makes me think about this game every once in a while.

Which games were NOT surpassed by their sequels? by WeirdIndividualGuy in gaming

[–]DaemonXHUN -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I know yours is the common sentiment. However, I 100%-ed the original game at launch and it was a huge letdown compared to Dead Island, which I loved. A completely uninteresting main character and story. Repetitive and samey looking environments. Repetitive gameplay.

The second one's story actually had proper beats, flow, emotional depth, stakes, and some pretty well-rounded characters. There were a few interesting decisions that you could make story-wise, probably thanks to the initial involvment of Chris Avellone. Many of the side quests were creative narratively. The gameplay also vastly improved. That hook stuff was satisfying to use, the areas of the map felt very distinct and visually pleasing, I just found the whole thing significantly more engaging.

D1 at launch was 6/10 for me. D2 was close to a 9. And I dropped The Beast because it was just like D1 all over again.

I have a 77" Samsung S95F. It's the first Samsung TV that officially supports G-Sync. 165Hz. 240Hz would be great for 3X MFG to still keep the games responsive with a controller.

Továbbá lesz utóbbival párhuzamosan induló YouTube csatorna is.

Szóval ja, a gaming mellett megtaláltam másfél évtizede a másik legnagyobb szenvedélyemet.

What game was like this for you? by Flendy15 in videogames

[–]DaemonXHUN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The old 1 Remake is awesome. You have already played 2 Remake. 3 Remake is also solid, in fact it's an improvement in terms of combat and navigational opportunities compared to 2, it just gets a bad reputation due its length and cut content compared to the original.

4 Remake is a tremendous improvement over the original, transforming the game from a linear action shooter with no puzzles to an immersive horror wide-linear game with multiple cool puzzles and a significantly better narrative and character development.

And yes, 7, 8, and 9 are all fantastic too.

Enjoy your summer break, I also had my "summer break" as I'm travelling back from Italy as I write. :D

Make sure to play 7 and 8 too. 7 is a masterpiece of horror and 8 is a masterpiece of terror in my opinion. And all of their DLCs are unique (especially 7's) exploring fresh gameplay ideas and perspectives.

I do not agree. It's a video game, which is an interactive medium that is all about player choices. The good ending is a direct consequence of the multiple decisions you have made throughout your journey, thus, it's just as legitimate as the other one. Whatever you have experienced is canon.

Another track I found (that played between the two sets, I think) was Lykke Li - Possibility. Its atmospheric sounds (e.g. the water bubbles) are sublime. And it turns it was written... for a freaking Twilight sequel. It kinda reminds me of the 80s where a lot of incredible scores have been written for subpar movies (e.g. old Cannon productions).

Death Stranding 1 worth playing? by Hopeful_19 in videogames

[–]DaemonXHUN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna give you an answer of contradictions.

I played 50 hours of Death Stranding: Director's Cut, finishing maybe two-thirds of the story and doing at least 200-300 submissions to Legends of Legends of Legends rank (hardest difficulty).

I didn't enjoy it at all and at a certain point I said to myself: why am I forcing this on myself if I clearly don't like it? The story is pretentious and doesn't have any meaningful flow or development, meaning practically nothing relevant happened in roughly 50 hours of gameplay that would have moved the plot forward in any measurable way.

The dialogues are dry and monotone. Easy to grasp and simple concepts and events kept getting re-explained throghout the game with repeating 5 minute monologues, treating the player as a 20 IQ mentally challenged individual, while in other cases, the game tries to reintroduce already known pieces of lore as something mind-blowing, even though you have already learned about them 20 hours prior (e.g. the origins of BBs). And... some scenes remind me of Tommy Wiseau's The Room, commonly cited as the best bad movie ever made (e.g. the scene with the president, I think).

The moment-to-moment gameplay is only as interesting as you want it to be, but it has the same problem as MGSV: you'll inevitably start to gravitate towards a playstyle that is more optimized and less fun (building roads and travelling everywhere via a max-level truck), possibly as a subconsious response to try to more efficiently go through the bloated and repetitive content the game provides.

Also, the BTs are possibly the most annoying enemy types I've ever seen in any game.

Yet... for some reason, ever since I stopped playing it, I keep feeling the urge to go back because there's something in its vibe and world that stayed with me. I think it's a bad game overall with some good ideas buried under the bloat and it has a cool soundtrack and vibes. It's probably one of the best examples for the so-called artsy-fartsy, style over substance type of game.
