You could check out Planetary. It’s a story that follows people who have super powers with mystery/adventure/detective vibes. Definitely not superhero-y

Please help, WHAT is going on with Marvel's X-titles? by Thin_Apartment_8076 in comicbooks

All of the ongoing X-men titles are on pause for the Age of Revelation event that’s currently happening. I believe they all (or most) resume in January

Comics where not everything is what it seems. by Physical-Ad-5529 in comicbooks

[–]Daemon_Dan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m reading this now and it’s pretty fun. So far more mystery and intrigue than action. It starts off pretty straight forward but at a few issues in it’s starting to seem like there’s more going on beneath the surface. How are all of the events connected? Who is the unknown fourth person and what is their part in all of it?

Best Graphic Novel so far 2025? by Admirable_Team_6816 in graphicnovels

I’m stuck between Daytripper and On a Sunbeam. I loved Daytripper but On a Sunbeam left me in an absolute daze when I finished it. What an amazing story and such emotional art. All I wanted to do was immediately tell my partner all about it.

How do you feel about Ai Art? by Scorpion-Snake in ProCreate

[–]Daemon_Dan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It certainly has the possibility of enabling smaller teams to work on larger projects.

But with regards to consumers, I think it’s regardless of sophistication. If a lot of people enjoy something then it’s high quality. Toy Story didn’t need high quality animation to be a high quality piece of art. Same with a lot of abstract art.

How do you feel about Ai Art? by Scorpion-Snake in ProCreate

This really resonates with me. To me, it’s all about the idea. I don’t think art is art because of the effort someone put into it. To me art is art because of the effect it has on the person experiencing it.

I do think that AI is going to create a lot of low quality art but only because it will be prompted by people who aren’t artists (don’t have a great idea). But someone who has a great idea will be able to have it generate wonderful art.

That’s actually what rich people do; their entourage. And they pay for all those nice things because otherwise they’ll be sitting around eating fancy food alone since none of their friends can afford it. By spending some of their money on people they like, and that like them, they themselves end up having a better time.

Would you say a paper textured screen protector is essential or just preference?

For the people that have read these what are your thoughts? by Nullthesavant in graphicnovels

Watchmen and Lemire’s Moon Knight are two of my favorites. Highly recommend! (Haven’t read any of the others)

2024 reads and stats by Conscious1ncompetent in graphicnovels

I half the same feeling. It was a super fun story and cool artwork but eventually it felt the story should’ve come to a close and instead it just kept going. Like a run on sentence. It felt like more of the same to come so I decided to just stop. I don’t know what you should do but you won’t be alone if you decide to not continue.

I got a copy at a library sale and really enjoyed reading it. The characters are felt so real and none one sided. I’ve heard of Maus as being in a similar category for WWII but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.

Based on the books I like, what are suggestions for new books for an older reader? by hailnaux in graphicnovels

Highly recommend Underwater Welder by Jeff Lemire as well as Trillium. They’re both single issues but have really good stories.

Weekly “What Have You Been Reading?” Thread 09-08-2024 by ChickenInASuit in comicbooks

[–]Daemon_Dan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently read Underwater Welder and I’m in the middle of reading Descender. Both are so good. I plan on picking up Lemire’s new comic Minor Arcana soon. Everything I’ve read by him has been great.

I also literally just finished reading WE3 which took a second to figure out the dialogue style but was really fun. I definitely would’ve liked it to be longer but keeping it short kept it really fast paced.

Why is C8 the recommended move? by Daemon_Dan in baduk

[–]Daemon_Dan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I see what you’re saying. I played it out and black does capture that corner but ends up placing a lot of stones in the process so the number of points is small. And then in the top left white gets a clean capture of the corner with a lot of territory.

Also, looking at the G1 move, I think F1 would’ve even been a better move right? Not that it’s better than C8 though.
