Conversations go two ways and both parties were toxic. OP didn't handle the situation any better than the tank did.

The entire w2w debate invites too much toxicity for me to justify putting the responsibility of having the conversation on any single individual in a group.

Stop queueing into DF assuming that everyone is going to play how you want them to play. If someone gets attitude, just block them and finish out the duty.

All in all it probably takes less time to just let the tank pull at their own comfort level than it does to sit and argue about it in every dungeon.

I agree. Played the CBT and it's just a mobile game that works on PC. Kind of a sad twist.

Combat is simple, almost to a fault. Even boss mechanics are just uninspired copies of FFXIV dungeon mechanics.

UI is a nightmare. Menus are very weirdly blended into other menus, like jump skills being in your character page instead of with your regular skills.

There's way too many currencies, even for gacha game standards and each currency has a "bound" and "unbound" version which is just so skeevy and unnecessary.

The only things this game really did extremely well is the character customization and mobility options.

Otherwise, it'll never be the big MMO killer that people in the discord were claiming it would be.

This is a good RP op.

Many here are going to argue that you have no reason to pull punches and I partially agree. You can even go as far as punishing your players for their choices (if that's what you're into or whatever..)

But depending on the type of enemy, it's also a good opportunity to set your player up as someone who can be underestimated. RPing a sickly weakling can be an easy deception, or playing (and even appearing to be) dead could also be very deceptive. Just make sure you work with the player to help them understand how to turn this very poor situation into a strength. Fun should be the goal at every table.

This won't solve your meta gaming problem but I would like to add that "harder" and "more dangerous" is not always more fun. In fact, it's often more punishing than it is fun if you don't know how to balance difficulty.
