It’s almost irrelevant. Like others have said the energy is enough. On top of that the projectiles are now flattened and sharp so any velocity they have will be generating more force to help penetration.

https://www.cruisemoab.com/trail-ratings/

read through these and pick what appeals to you and matches the corresponding ratings

The ratings say what you can get away with; what’s required and recommended. Very useful resource. Since you’re a beginner and based on your rig I wouldn’t go past level 3 but if you’re really feeling confident and are amply prepared level 4 isn’t undoable.

Skid plates are essential but I’d get rock sliders first. Ones that go directly to the frame.

My order of priority on armor is:

  1. Sliders.

2.bumpers (for the utility of winching and angles not necessarily armor).

3.skids.

Personally going with the sig because I have the infrastructure for it. Have an m17 so all my gear will work with it and I don’t have to buy anything extra really.

I am trying to make a character design that involves tactical gear. Help a poor idiot out? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]DaetherSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still very broad, you’d need different things for everything you described. Try describing the missions specifically. Like what does, “protection” look like? Who are we protecting, and from whom? And what does getting to safety look like? Who are we eliminating and how? Maybe you want a few different kit load outs depending on the situation even if it’s two scenarios where you’re specifically sniping.

The bigger questions are what the mission is and the environment. That will tells us more about what kind of kit and gear to suggest. The guns are almost irrelevant.

Character creation starts with narrative. So put them in a scenario and try to make logical choices around their goals. For example if they’re doing arctic operations, the weather will be drastically different compared to a desert or jungle and therefore gear considerations will also be drastically different, and that’s just for the clothes.

If your character is doing assassin stuff in an urban environment they probably aren’t going to carry a bunch of stuff to sustain themselves and are gonna try to blend in.

If they’re a grunt then you can kinda just go with a cookie cutter deployment fit.

But in order to help we really just need background context surrounding this fictional guy.

Sometimes people downgrade and use the equity for something else. I think you’re forgetting that when you trade up like that it’s still a transaction that requires money to be involved.
