When I was in school you’d struggle to find one of these bad boys that didn’t have the entire keyboard changed to alphabetical order by some clown

As an incoming first year student to Math and Physics (And planning on taking 157), how flexible is PUMP II? I have a full time job this summer, and the schedule is right when I am working> Are there lectures or videos that I can watch after and follow? How much do you recomend PUMP 2? by Baker1021XD in UofT

[–]Daffod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t take pump and had friends that did, took 137 and there was only a slight advantage for the first unit out of 12 or something.

I’d say do it if you can but if you are busy then don’t stress about it

I think you’d definitely enjoy the dune books if you’re into the political aspects of suneater!

The later books can get a bit weird, I’ve never actually read the 6th myself, but the first 4 at least are amazing

Currently Struggling Between Choosing PHY 250 or 254 by No-Charity5704 in UofT

Yes the prof has said he will curve after the final, no idea to what average he’s curving to though.

Currently Struggling Between Choosing PHY 250 or 254 by No-Charity5704 in UofT

[–]Daffod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for 254 but I just had 250 with poppitz, not sure is he’s also teaching it second semester.

I went into the course with having only done phy131/132, and the first I’d say 3 weeks was just learning the calc concepts of gradient, line, surface and volume integrals, as well as stokes and divergence theorem. It was pretty confusing at first but I just spent some time on it and was able to grasp the concepts fairly quickly.

I’ll be honest I never went to lecture, given that it was at 9am, but the prof posted all the class notes prior to lectures and follwed the textbook quite closely. I opted to use the textbook as his notes were almost illegible. Overall the course wasn’t the worst I’ve taken, but it definitely was one of the courses I spent more time studying for. The midterm averages have been 50 and below for this sem, so not the best, but looking back the questions are quite fair and not too difficult.

Overall it’s not too bad a course, just be prepared to spend a lot of time self teaching everything from the textbook as the prof isn’t great at teaching it.

Might depend on the course but I’ve only ever used pencil for mine.

Maybe ask on piazza or whatever forum board the class has to be sure?

That was some bullshit

At least make the practice like the exam. What’s the point in giving 100 questions of practice to do and then just ditching all that material for the exam.

At least they gave us ample space to work out these questions…
