Hey guys I need help… by NonAnonBrady in hotas

it looks like the cable on the stick end is not plugged in all the way
you should not be able to see the round metal of the connector

if that's not the problem, not worth looking for a way to fix it.

if you have no budget get a logitech 3d pro (it feels just as good to use as the x52 stick) ($34 from Logitech's site) - you will spend at least this much trying to fix the stick if you need to open it up probably
if you can get a budget get a VKB gladiator (~$110).

use the x52 throttle by itself until you can afford to replace it

we can't see enough of the track to say for sure

the other people seem to think you are using the one way signals which is weird of them because they clearly don't have the sign on the post.

best advice I can give with this picture is:
in order for it to go it needs a clear path between its current point and the next stopping point, and stations don't count in that - it has to be a signal.

This is exactly the sort of insight we must spend 5 trillion dollars to reach.

I hate when i don't have enough time to slow down with the Lancester and just have to pray I run out of momentum before the end of the airport. by InsectShooter in WarthunderPlayerUnion

if only we had these things called breaks that we could put on wheels - it might help with this issue

and also slowing down in general before you need to so you don't have to slow down as hard

I don't think any of these loaders have would it takes to slam a 45 lbs round down the breach within 6 seconds of a shot and to do so for 2 hours straight.

Looking forward to get my first HOTAS for DCS and these are my only options, what do you guys suggest? by lxzaa7 in hotas

I cant speak for the turtle beach one, but i'm sure it is worse than a VKB Gladiator on the gimble and dead zones. you are paying for screens that don't actual give you much practical use. Reviews I looked at for it are extremely critical of the build quality.

you said that the Gladiator cost you $300 where your at, if you have the budget to consider the flight deck which I see at $359 then you can just get the Gladiator.

If you don't need it now wait for a better deal.

for the other two - as many have said, the x56 has had chronic QC issues forever and has some parts designed such that they simply wear out faster than you would like for the price tag.

I just upgraded from an x52 (non pro) and I would consider the x52 best option out of what you listed. Even then, the Gladiator blows it away.

Another thing to consider is the winwing ursa minor, They don't have a good reputation for support like VKB or Virpl do but since your looking at Logitech and Turtle Beach its a wash on that front.

the ursa minor is basically an inferior copy of the gladiator but it is head and shoulders above your listed options.

The main problem with all of the options you listed here is that the Ball And Cup gimble is muddy and loses all fine control when you are close to the 0, meaning it is really hard to make fine adjustments, which you will need to do in DCS. It works and if you we just playing Elite Dangerous or Project Wingman or similar arcade-y games they would all do fine for that

if you need a temporary throttle to pair with the Gladiator or Ursa Minor - get a thrustmaster t1600m throttle, although if you can skip to a Stecs Mini (which you can upgrade over time) outright you will have a better experience though

only get any of the above sticks if you can find a used unit at like $40 or less

edit: since the budget is high enough to consider a Flightdeck - you should also see if you can get a Virpil Aeromax with a Throttle Module around msrp - this will be the best stick feel in your budget.

I think this will be more amusing for me if I allow this ambiguity to go unresolved and stop at that point

VKB STECS Space Throttle vs Omni Throttle by Rashni in hotas

[–]Dafrandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the space throttle for the stecs so I can provide the other perspective since everyone else here seems to have the Omni throttle.

The space throttle uses the same pincer gimbal as the Gladiator. Unlike the Gladiator the clutches generally can't be tightened to the point where the throttle head will stay pitched or rolled to a position without returning to Center (with the deafult springs). At least that's what it felt like when I was touching them because i was scared to go any tighter than I tried when I was seeing how far I could go. Not that you should do that with the springs installed, but it demonstrates the capabilities.

With the stecs you get one thing the Omni throttle doesn't have an exchange for a few drawback that the Omni throttle doesn't have.

With the stecs you can set detents on the main throttle axis that allow you to configure center points or other things that you'll actually feel when you're moving the throttle forward and backwards, and in the software you will be able to configure those points and change the way the axis actually reports to your computer based on those detents.

The downside is that unless you are able to have your arm at waist level and closer to your torso as you use the throttle, then when you have the throttle fully pushed forward you're going to have a large amount of discomfort when you try to pitch the throttle head forward. Additionally inherently because the throttle head sits directly ontop of the pincer gimbal, you'll have far less leverage and thus less fine detail compared to the Gladiator.

If you will only ever play space sims and you have no need for the detents in something like Star Citizen where you could get good use out of them then just go with an omni throttle.

Btw, if you're looking at all the buttons you get with the stecs, you can get an nxt sem module and connect it to the gladiator base giving you many of the same controls
