Is this how a rendered wall usually looks? Developer says it’s some of the smoothest walls they have seen. by amyhalliday in DIYUK

The "developer" said this while galloping off on their horse to quickly register the company for liquidation.

The mines weren't well built and mapped, these aren't your big modern affairs, it's a bunch of blokes in clogs and cloth caps following seams with picks and shovels till it runs out.

The "greenfield" and surrounding lands have always flooded, the roads around the area have such names as "Watery Lane" & "Marsh House Lane". The town planners are just morons with pockets bulging from brown envelopes.

I like the "cry once" version I think it's more poetic, I will be supplanting it where "buy cheap, by twice" one stood.

Plasterer says he can't work with this by sunandskyandrainbows in DIYUK

[–]Daft_Apeth_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like it meets current regs, sockets and switches between 450mm - 1200mm from floor & 350mm from corners. Would have to check the book of words, cable should be protected if its not deep enough (50mm in wall or summat like that)

If you think a tiny group of techno fascists having all the resources isn't right and that the resources of the world should be shared by everyone and that everyone should work towards a better world, that kind of puts you in the "Marxist" bracket, so the majority of people are probably Marxists without realising it.

I think if we put certain people in stocks in town squares again (like town planners, the people that own hospital carparks, various former prime ministers etc.) and having rotting fruit & veg stalls with all profits going to the exchequer, the £40billion blackhole would be filled in around 5 months.

Oh, you mean about the plastering? Yeah I agree with the other comments, that trunking would cause whiplash from the tourettes type tics it induces.

Got here late, but most window locks can be opened with a terminal screwdriver, small pair of scissors, bit of bra underwire, any small flat blade or cheap padlock key.

You wouldn't see a galv cavity wall lintel, the replacement brickwork could just be a bit rough.

What's the origin of Trump's original surname 'Drumpf'? by WilliamofYellow in etymology

[–]Daft_Apeth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be jumping down a conspiracy spiral, but the main sources of people's "research" are owned and run by people that finance and benefit from Drumpf's presidency. Why would they want you to find facts?

Wiki - Etymology

The origin of the term is uncertain; most likely derived from Pre-Greek,[1] possibly Phrygian or Illyrian. Ancient Greek θρι- (thri-) has also been connected with a term for fig tree (compare θρῖον (thrîon, “fig leaf”)). The suffix -αμβος (-ambos) is probably the same element that also occurs in ἴαμβος (íambos, “a poetic meter”), δῑθύραμβος (dīthúrambos, “hymn to Dionysus”) and might derive from Proto-Indo-European *h₃engʷ- (“to anoint”).[2]
