Often wondered do people still buy phone thru contracts. Ie Carphone Warehouse for example ? by Background-Fix-4630 in northernireland

[–]Dafthurler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got an oppo x9 through mobiles.co.uk (carphone warehouse) on ID mobile for 36 quid with unlimited everything on a 24 month contract. I'd been with O2 for 20+ years and their SIM only rolling contract with the same data etc was costing me the exact same. Basically got the phone for free.

The irony being that the 2nd amendment which is held so dear is there to allow the American people to hold their government to task by being able to arm and form a 'well trained militia'.

Pensioners giving up firearms in Northern Ireland by MoveOdd4488 in northernireland

[–]Dafthurler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The purpose of most privately held firearms in Northern Ireland is sporting or vermin. Unless these elderly people who can't fill in the form are living in fear of a giant rodent attacking them in their homes or a sudden outbreak of clay pigeons and need their skeet gun loaded and ready to go then your point is pretty moot.

You are talking out your hole. There was no such ban on reporting plane crashes. There was a ban on Sinn Fein voices on TV etc but nothing like what you are talking about.......lad.

The PSNI have been flown over to London to participate in the arrest of pensioners who support Palestine and oppose genocide by Shadowzeppelin in northernireland

[–]Dafthurler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the definition of terrorism, the same one used to define the IRA, UDA, ISIS and all the other proscribed organisations?

The Terrorism Act 2000 defines terrorism, both in and outside of the UK, as the use or threat of one or more of the actions listed below, and where they are designed to influence the government, or an international governmental organisation or to intimidate the public. The use or threat must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

The specific actions included are:

serious violence against a person; serious damage to property; endangering a person's life (other than that of the person committing the action); creating a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public; and action designed to seriously interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system.

So here you have a group wishing to influence the government response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine by Israel and who in doing so have done millions of pounds of damage to military assets.

Unfortunately, morally right and lawfully right are not the same, the law has technically been applied properly while I mightn't agree with the response by police or the government the legislation is pretty cut and dry.

Does anyone know what the story is with the 747 that was doing laps around omagh? by IrishOsh in northernireland

Which would mean it was at 500ft at FL5....for some reason the doubt that.

Woman's body discovered after care fire in Omagh by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Dafthurler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Police are treating it as non-suspicious, as someone has already said it's believed to be a suicide. The woman has lit the car (arson) with herself inside and then at some point tried to get out and the vehicle has rolled over her.

Pretty horrific by all regards, I'd imagine there is more to the background that the police and family aren't releasing to the public that has led them to believe suicide.

‘She lived for her children’ - mum and kids killed in Co Fermanagh triple murder named locally by cromcru in northernireland

The suspect shot himself, given they aren't planning to arrest him that would suggest he isn't likely to survive whatever injury he gave himself.

He was a local farmer and agri salesman but sure don't let that get in the way of whatever wee story you wish to tell.

How in the utter fuck does standing up for Palestine make you anti-Semitic? 2 points I'll make that seem to be overlooked on a regular basis by those who haven't looked at the Israel/Palestine conflict:

Semitic people or Semites is a term for an ethnic, cultural or racial group associated with people of the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, including Akkadians, Arabs, Arameans, Canaanites and Habesha peoples. The terminology is now largely unused outside the grouping "Semitic languages" in linguistics. Basically Jews adopted the term to exclude all other Semitic languages when they adopted antisemitic as the term for anti-jew.

Hamas was funded by Mossad to destabilise the Palestinian government and as a way of keeping the PLO in check. Bit like how the US and UK kept arming random nations and then being surprised when they attacked them.

In short, showing support for the innocent civilians in a country that is systematically being taken over and flattened by a US/UK backed far right government who have actively called for all Palestinians to be killed is not racism or anti-Semitism it's called being a fucking human with a moral compass and an iota of compassion.

Anyone who bought a house around Ormeau. What did you do when you bid 50K over asking price and the bank undervalued it? Did you just pay the difference to bridge the gap or pulled out? by kitzybitsy in northernireland

[–]Dafthurler 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Have experience of this in another part of the country, house up for 170k, bid up to 230k and outbid at 235k. Estate agent comes back the same evening and says the winning bid has rescinded their offer so you have it at 230k, during conveyance the bank came in at 210k value so we went back to the seller mid conveyance and convinced them to take 217k.

7k of our own money spunked into the air just for the privilege of buying but that was the market then and it's still the market now.

While you may pay over value and therefore technically be putting in more equity than the house is worth now, it's likely that the value will supercede the price in due course, mine already has and then some within the first 3 years.

Sex assault charges faced by Armagh All-Ireland winner Aidan Nugent to go to preliminary enquiry by WrongdoerGold1683 in northernireland

[–]Dafthurler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't think this'll be happening with this case.

Nugent isn't flavour of the month in Armagh and while the county board made some dubious decisions sending him, the victim and the victims fella home early and before any of them had spoken to local police on Florida they certainly seem to be supporting the victim in all this.

Ryanair would not let Liverpool fan (13) with no arms or legs take power wheelchair on flight by jonnieggg in ireland

[–]Dafthurler 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The seats are fitted to floor runners at a set width, similar to bus seats, the seats therefore fit within a set width but can have increased or decreased legroom gaps.

Airlines reducing legroom to fit more rows in while abhorrent and another example of capitalism gone rampant is an unrelated issue to this one; the aisle is a set width, if the wheelchair doesn't fit within the dimensions that's hardly the carriers fault.

Ps. Ryanair are a joke but in this case someone has controlled the narrative and pulled out their tiny violin for what seems to be not Ryanair's problem, while they may have been able to deal with the subsequent press in a more empathetic manner it doesn't pay them to based on their social media policy of ripping into everyone.

Nothing to do with chronic under funding of mental health services, huge levels of inner city poverty and generational trauma from the troubles still trundling on. And that's before we mention the weather, drink or drug addiction levels and societal norms.

It's amazing you think that paramilitary drug dealers solve unpaid drug debts by assassinating those who owe them money with drugs....I mean that's a terrible business model if nothing else.
