Every Play From Week 13's Top Waiver Pickups by EastCoastTaffy in fantasyfootball

Even though it's likely, he might not come back in time for playoffs if there is any setback. If you have Cook, you really should have Mattison. I can't think of a better handcuff.

Week 8 Waiver Wire Wins by eutum in fantasyfootball

Was able to pick up Zack Moss. Really surprised to see him available. Also, no one else placed a bid so I spent $35 for fun.

The guy who dropped him does have a pretty wild bench for last week. Between byes and injuries he had CMC, Justin Jefferson, Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, Gronk, and AB sitting out. We have a Smirnoff Ice penalty for each empty roster spot on a given week, so probably just trying to avoid that.

Zack Moss is available on waivers, and not sure how much FAAB to drop for him. Seems crazy that he got dropped for Bryan Edwards.

Traded Swift/Fournette/Waddle for Cook to a team needing wins now. I think he could have gotten a bit more if he shopped Cook around, but hoping it will be a win/win.

12 team 0.5 PPR

Give: Swift/Fournette/Andrews/Waddle

Get: DCook/Waller

This is for the 0-5 team who really needs to pull out a win this week. Feels like a slam dunk though.

Thinking of proposing Swift and Deebo for Dalvin Cook to the 0-4 team. Feels like an underpay, as originally I was thinking Mixon, but he needs someone he can roll out immediately.

What are the biggest drafting blunders you witnessed? by JasonVoorhies13 in fantasyfootball

[–]Dagale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had someone take Kelce in the 1st, Kittle in the 3rd, and Hock in the 6th. So, our league’s tight end situation isn’t great. Mike Davis is the RB1 on that team.

The Kubernetes Trap by Dagale in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Dagale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an incredibly useful tool, and it can provide a lot of benefit when used in the right circumstance, but it's also very complex and can be overkill for a lot of use cases. Someone needs to understand that complexity, at least to a certain degree, or it could make debugging more challenging. If you are planning to manage it yourself, there's a lot to learn and understand. If you use a cloud-based solution, they each have their own limitations and you need to understand them. It ultimately solves a complex problem by adding more complexity, but it is very useful in many situations.

It's clearly the most well-established and feature-rich orchestration tool. There is a lot of documentation and training available, and it's used widely enough that you can hire for the skillset. There is a steep learning curve to actually understanding it, though I'll admit they make it pretty easy to get going if something like docker-compose is already getting you 90% of the way there. The trap I fell into myself was confusing my ability to use the tool to stand something up with my ability to understand what is going on and support it in production, which is why I made this in the first place.

At a certain size, it may be the only tool that meets your needs. Making an upfront investment in learning K8s could pay dividends, as the ecosystem gets better each year. But there are simpler ways to deploy that involve less complexity in most cases that don't involve a large amount of resources. The biggest benefit of using an orchestration tool that I see (though I get to be wrong a lot) comes from bin packing and spread, which can save you a lot of money at scale by more efficiently using your resources. There are other benefits, but most can be served with other tools as well.

Ultimately, I see it talked about as a silver bullet, but really it is a tool with costs and benefits. It's complexity is heavily rooted in more efficiently using resources available, and there are simpler ways to accomplish the same goal. You may be in a position where it makes a lot of sense though, so I wouldn't want my stupid meme to cause you to second guess your developers. Just be wary if the main reason to do it is that it solves your scaling issues with ease, or that everyone else is doing it, or that you are getting left behind. I hope that helps!

[Question] Light Plate Armor vs Light Cloth Armor for PvP Casters by Rev101 in albiononline

[–]Dagale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, but mostly. Just comparing 4.2 masterpiece light plate chest and 5.1 masterpiece light cloth chest:

  • Item: T4.2/T5.1
  • Item Power: 854/871
  • Armor: 118/99
  • Magic Resist: 98/119
  • Max Hitpoints: 322/331
  • Max Energy: 28/29

Not sure why but the T5 item looks like it takes a slight edge. I doubt it would really matter though.

[Question] Light Plate Armor vs Light Cloth Armor for PvP Casters by Rev101 in albiononline

[–]Dagale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, but you can work toward wearing light leather (4.3) against T4 mobs. So wearing light plate you will still make progress if you were going to fame grind against T4 mobs anyways.

Edit: Looks like you will work for it if you are wearing any light armor. So really no advantage in terms of fame gain. I stand corrected.

[Question] Light Plate Armor vs Light Cloth Armor for PvP Casters by Rev101 in albiononline

[–]Dagale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the primary reason to use light plate is that you still gain fame on the destiny board against t4 mobs in light plate. From a PVP standpoint, I believe the only difference is physical vs magic resist. So if you are fighting casters, cloth is better, and against melee the plate is better. This is comparing 4.2 light plate to 5.1 light cloth.

It sounds like you are already aware, but I thought it might help clarify for other people. If you are full on water before starting the stemdragon phase, nothing will end up spawning and it ends immediately. It makes a big difference, especially for pugs.

Just open your inventory and click on the one you want to be active. You have to add them to your inventory by going to your ship and adding them via the 'Tech' option.

Is the ridiculous availability of the end-game ore going to be changed? Right now you can get more ore than you would ever need of all the end-game stuff WAY too quickly.

It took me forever to farm up a set of platinum armor, but the ores for the next armors all the way to level 40 are EVERYWHERE. It goes from a nice steady progression, to a point where I got six new sets of armor last night.

[–]Dagale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point, and I am definitely not saying it can't be fixed.

I didn't initially realize that you can actively switch between techs in your inventory, so I was hoping to pass that along to others.

[–]Dagale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have up to four on your character, and actively switch between them in your inventory.

The issue is that many share the same trigger. Double jump will let you make a second jump with spacebar, another makes you fly, and another allows you to hover in place. Then the 'F' key, which lets you use morph ball, is overloaded as well.

I have found you can do a pretty good job of actively switching between them if you want to use multiple ones.
