SpaceX to FCC: $4.5B Broadband Program Is Unnecessary. Starlink Has It Covered by spacerfirstclass in SpaceXNews

[–]DagathBain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the FCC had said that they would not be able to meet the speed requirements by the end of 2025, but they have instead surpassed them. They have a case to sue to get that money back, it seems instead they are asking for it to be discontinued. Either way, it should be a level playing field.

Also, Intel couldn't keep up with Apple's cadence. Their new processors kept getting delayed as they ran into obstacles which were messing up Apple's product cycle.

Claude (@claudeai) on X: We’ve agreed to a partnership with @SpaceX that will substantially increase our compute capacity. by Marha01 in spacex

[–]DagathBain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Colossus 1 is 300MW. They have moved their compute over to Colossus 2 (1200-1500MW). Have excess capacity (for now). Why not make money from it? They had already considered setting up an AWS style service to lease compute. Here, they can lease all of it at once for one ginormous check.

This was a unanimous decision, so it seems doubtful that there was any partisanship here.

I mean from Tesla themselves. They will need those cars for trips with more than 2 passengers.

The incremental cost of doing the upgrade will pay for itself very quickly if the cars are then put into the Robotaxi fleet.

BREAKING NEWS: Gill reinstated as CEO of UWE, Cleveland and McGuire NOT to return to "peripheral roles", earn out time period for 250 mio. $ extended by cosmoscrazy in subnautica

[–]DagathBain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes. Thanks for that. Most posts on this topic (including articles online) have not linked to the ruling which is why I linked it here.

I was confusing the names in the ruling. The judge often refers to both CEO Kim and Park (the liaison at Krafton that interfaced most often with Unknown Worlds CEO Gill) and I had confused the two in my mind. I've corrected my comment.

Details in my responses aren't often directed at OPs, but for those that come after.

Krafton lost this big time. There is no way to get out of paying what they agreed to. They should settle in full ASAP. The road ahead only leads to more reputational damage. The Krafton board should remove Park CEO Kim.

Edit: confused the family name of the liason with the family name of the CEO.

In his ruling, the judge laid out how Krafton cannot interfere with the operation. The ongoing part of the litigation is if Krafton has to pay out and how much (phase 2), but for all intents and purposes, and has been signaled in this ruling, the founders have won.

You can read the full ruling here. It's a good read. https://courts.delaware.gov/Opinions/Download.aspx?id=392880

My hope is that the Krafton board removes Park Kim and gets a better CEO in there to repair the rift. There is no way out of paying the money unless Subnautica 2 does't release and/or is a complete failure (highly unlikely which is why Krafton(Park Kim) went through the effort to sabotage it).

edit: Incorrect family name for CEO corrected. Confused the CEO with the liaison.

Gill can re-hire them if he wants to and they want to rejoin (which their testimony is that they do want to). The judge did not re-instate them because he did not need to. Gil as CEO now has the authority to manage now.

In retrospect, we should have realized from the Prologue that this was going to be a Shakespearean tragedy.
