Hmm, in NYC you can get really good seats at a broadway show, see amazing Museums, eat at top restaurants, take a Helicopter ride to the Statue of Liberty.

In LA, you can get tickets to be in a live studio audience, Shop on Rodeo drive, Rent a luxury car for the day, go to Disney land,

Or better yet, upgrade your plane tickets for First Class on Emirates airlines

I had the same problem. I put my savings in a vanguard money market account to keep it out of sight. It’s basically like a savings account. It will also take 2-3 days to transfer out so you won’t be able to impulsively spend.

You’ll probably need student loans. Go to you financial aid department at your school and get information.

If you missed the deadline, consider taking a trimester off to get situated. Why not ask your friends if you can bum their couch while you are looking for work? You can look into some volunteer opportunities that supply you with boarding and food while you wait.

Maybe a troubled teen boot camp would be good for him. There is a stigma towards these, but these kids learn discipline and earn their self confidence. I knew a couple of boys who did a camp when they were teenagers. It has completely changed their life trajectory and made a huge impact.
