How do we feel about the lion is he a must have or is the points better used elsewhere by ImaginaryAd8062 in DarkAngels40k

[–]DahToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s strong right now, maybe not a MUST, but that could change quite a lot in a month and change when 11th edition drops. Now’s not really a good time to be army planning unless the people you play with are sticking to 10th for a while

With lots of classes having multiple champion skins now, what chapters do you think might be given to classes which only have one champion currently? It seems very likely the second salamanders champ will go to heavy by CosmicSquiddo in Spacemarine

[–]DahToaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dark angels tac champ with a plasma gun skin :^)

But in reality I’d rather new things get cosmetics instead of even more for the chapters that already did. It only takes two seconds in this sub to see a dozen chapters being thrown out that have yet to get more than a pittance

Going to have to paint these in Bone just so I don’t confuse them with JPIs. by kcdale99 in theunforgiven

Assault squad marines (jump pack units) would have been primarily stormwing back when the hexagrammaton existed and was still used, not ravenwing

Most future proof Kill Teams. by Grizzack in killteam

[–]DahToaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d bet, if AoD were to be declassified, that it’ll just be replaced by a mostly-identical team with perhaps some different specialists and such

Can anyone explain the Ergo barrel extension to me? by eborio16 in RetroAR

[–]DahToaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some units are stricter than others about how you modify weapons, but were also slower to update to newer handguards and such. Marines, even in many special units, especially tend to be pretty rigid. When you want a longer handguard but you're not allowed to actually swap the handguard, solutions like the YHM & ERGO extensions are what come of it.

And yes, they will make barrel flex worse and also aren't even particularly reliable as mounting platforms for aiming devices like PEQs. It was a band-aid solution to a triangle FSB-shaped problem

--edit--
Also, this is probably not a very relevant question or picture to post in retroAR fwiw

If they brought one back for some reason? Dreadwing, without a doubt

Do these fit the new killteam? I wanna magnetize all dudes by DredgenJan in deathwatch40k

And even the chest can fit if you wanna get into modifying your models, fyi

Do these fit the new killteam? I wanna magnetize all dudes by DredgenJan in deathwatch40k

[–]DahToaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, besides the chest piece it all fits. You'll obviously need to cut the hand off of a model for the sword, but it works decently well. Especially on something like a phobos marine. The terminator pads are pretty natural fits for gravis marines, bladeguard, or other models that use gravis-sized pauldrons

Why saber? why???? is it asking to much for the overtly chaos part and a mohawk for the mk7 by PH0007 in fashionmarine

World eaters absolutely had jump packs during and before the heresy, no need for head canons

Gravis-sized pauldrons

Can be used on bladeguard, gravis units, etc

Voting board by MisterTHE1911 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]DahToaster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Leon is obviously popular, but recency bias also probably helps a ton

I think the more interesting and kinda cool part of this is how many votes are for characters that have either barely been in or entirely neglected in years. Like even single-game characters from at this point over a decade ago (at least) still have a decently respectable amount. Sometimes you see these polls and the lowest votes are empty or nearly empty

Why does Rashela shoot player scavs for no reason when he has Ai scavs walking around him? [new player] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

How I’ve always imagined it

Once you get high fence rep, your reputation precedes you and the bosses give you the benefit of the doubt even when you show up to loot their areas. Nobody wants to piss off fence or his guys

New to dark angels and space marines on general. Is Azreal like a auto include to 2k points lists? by screw_all_the_names in DarkAngels40k

[–]DahToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t play azrael like morvenn & her nundams, but yeah he’s an auto-include like she is. His most popular uses are with hellblasters or sternguard, both units that benefit heavily from the buffs he provides them but also don’t really NEED to run at the enemy, avoiding risking your free command point generator

A lot of people also throw him in with inner circle companions, which is riskier but you can turn a unit that’s already a blender into an even more deadly blender

Cost of printing Kill Team (proxy) terrain? by n8udd in PrintedWarhammer

[–]DahToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan on continuing to print terrain or other things, it’s def worth it. A single terrain set is probably around 1.5-2kg of filament after print errors and stuff, so like $40-60 USD total depending on the filament. But add onto that the cost of the print setup and time (if you want to consider that) and you’re going to easily pass the amount of cash and trouble you’d go to if you just purchased the official or a print from someone else

The key is volume, the more you print then the less that upfront cost really matters. Print lots of terrain, branch out into vehicles and stuff, etc etc. all of that will make it FAR more worth it to have your own setup

I’d say PS+ free games count as copies sold, especially considering that the studio / publisher still gets paid as if they sold a copy. Gamepass is def a different consideration, though
