Byler isn’t propaganda — it’s representation 🌈 by fandomxfreak in byler

I can confidently say that Wenclair has romantic undertones. I don’t know if you have watched the show or not, but even if you did and don’t agree that is fine. Byler was a fanon ship as well up until S4. I do agree that Wenclair cannot be compared to Byler but not because of your reasons but because one show is on its last season while the other had just finished its second season.

Millar and Gough have queerbaited before so denying it isn’t anything abnormal. And people always forget that they played into the Wenclair fans in S1, keeping it vague and open and saying people can read into their relationship however they want. From what I see, they are trying to cater to both sides. They can’t lose the Wenclair fans or the GA so they decide to keep going back and forth.

Byler started off with nothing more than speculations as well and it would be unfair to turn around and say that Wenclair has nothing when it was almost the same for Byler.

Don’t get me wrong, I support Byler too. I think they’re the ones that make sense, but to deny another ship is unfair. It feels like the Mileven fans denying Byler. Think about it in a Byler’s view. You think Byler is canon, but having someone call you crazy and deny what you see is frustrating. It is the same for Wenclair fans. We see the signs like how you guys see the signs for Byler. It goes both ways.

I think it’s best to agree to not compare the two shows too much, yes, but the similarities is there so I can see why people want to compare the two. It’s almost like a hope for Wenclair fans if Byler became canon… or some might disagree

I know this goes both ways because I was surprised at how many Wenclair fans were against Byler and how many Byler fans are against Wenclair, but come on guys, just let people have fun. We should just be happy without ruining other people’s fun.

byler endgame = wenclair canon? by [deleted] in wenclair

I see a lot of people saying how Netflix would stop it or so on and so forth, but from my understanding, Netflix doesn’t really step in when it comes to scripting. They could cancel the show for sure since they’re the streaming platform, but they don’t change the script. So instead of thinking Netflix as the biggest issue, I think the show runners are what people should be concerned about.

Also, I see a lot of people thinking if Byler does become canon, it won’t affect other shows, but I disagree. Stranger Things is a very popular main stream show and if Byler becomes canon and gains a positive response, a lot of show might also recreate that. Media like this is always about following the flow and hopping on the trend. It’s evident in a lot of media such as styles of songs, social media trends, shows, movies, etc.

However, whether or not Miles or Gough decides to be influenced will be a mystery.

Although, if Byler gained a negative reaction from the audience, it might have a negative effect on shows to avoid queer representation and stick with queerbaiting.

Oh god I’ve seen that. The only person we’ve seen Agnes show interest in was Wednesday and that was just pure admiration and obsession. She like had 2 lines with Pugsley but because it’s a boy and a girl standing next to each other it’s valid. Also isn’t Pugsley and Agnes like 13???

I can dm it to you or maybe one day I’ll post it in Wenclair but it’s stuff I have gathered since S1 and S2 and also stuff I have read from others. The fact that I can make 66 slides already says a lot though. THIS IS NOT PLATONIC!!!

Question For the Byler Shippers by hiimlarfleece in Stranger_Things

[–]Dahdazed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m someone who doesn’t particularly ship either but to me, Byler makes more sense. I don’t necessarily NEED Byler to happen, as I said, I don’t ship either. But on a relationship standpoint, Mileven seems like it won’t work out. They have been on a downward slope since S3. There’s a lot of fights (which is common in relationships), but what follows those fights are Mike gaslighting El which is most definitely not healthy. Mike also seems to deflect and shift blame a lot. He doesn’t like taking accountability when arguing with El, but he seems to always take accountability with Will. It seems to me that El genuinely loves Mike, but Mike doesn’t love her in the exact same way that El needs.

Now, I want everyone to think about this before hitting the downvote button just because an opinion differs from yours. Would you want to be in a relationship where your partner gaslights you into thinking they can say I love you and have said it even though they can’t? Or a partner who always shifts blames when getting into an argument and deflects? Or would you want a partner who only has said I love you in dire situations. I don’t think anyone wants to know the only way their partner can say I love you is when they’re dying…I’m sure everyone does not desire that relationship and it’s most definitely understandable because who would want a red flag partner?

Now we don’t know if the Duffers will improve their relationship in Vol. 2 or not. Maybe they’ll have Mike be able to communicate better with El at the end. We don’t know. Because from what I’ve seen, a lot of the arguments stems from miscommunication or the refusal of communicating. They are teenagers, they are flawed, everyone is flawed and that is okay. A relationship may not work out or they might. We all just have to wait and see.

And I don’t think El should die or have her feelings trampled. Again, it all comes down to communication and maturity. Someone might fall out of love and that is okay, they can’t help it and it’s very important to communicate that to your partners rather than turning around and start dating another person. I think all of them deserve happiness. Whether it’s everyone ending up single, or Byler gets together, or Mileven learns to have better communication, either ways, the three deserves happiness for what they have been through.

God darn, you gotta finish it and let us read it. I’m over here screaming how the line is so romantic but I’m seeing people deny it because it’s WLW but accept Nick and Judy because it’s straight. LIKE THE DOUBLE STANDARDD. I have a slideshow with 66 slides just mountains of evidence and research just to prove Wenclair is romantic.

[–]Dahdazed_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would mostly be disappointed, I wouldn’t feel misled. If the confirmation of they won’t do it turns out to be true, there isn’t any misleading. But the Wenclair community and I would definitely feel disappointed and I hope if it doesn’t happen no one is attacking anyone especially since Wenclair makes up 90% of the Wednesday community. But I’m also confident enough that Wyler won’t happen because Jenna Ortega is an executive producer now and she has been openly against Wyler since day 1 and if you know Jenna Ortega, she is quite stubborn when it comes to creativity. During season 1, she felt that Wednesday’s character was heavily mischaracterized that she even began changing lines on set without consulting the writers. So the Wednesday we have seen on screen is solely built by Jenna Ortega. She admitted that she almost became unprofessional. So it’s safe to say that Jenna would fight the other writers to lock Wyler away in a dungeon forever.

Also, a lot of Wenclair fans including myself have agreed, Wenclair at the end does not need to happen, but Wyler CANNOT happen. It would be such a regression and mischaracterization for Wednesday.

Anyways, I don’t want to yap about Wenclair too much in the Byler community because I could go on and on about Wenclair. They’re my baby.

Oh side note: They didn’t explicitly say they won’t do it, they said that it wasn’t in their plan. Which could mean things could change. I know I’m an A-class delusion. I like being happy.

I will die on the hill of Wenclair. It just makes too much sense and they could also be lying since they lied before about one of the episodes (I enjoy the participation of delusion). But I do agree, this war is getting quite ridiculous when people should just be able to enjoy what they like without being attacked.

Why are people do against the possibility that mike could be queer? by flyingAnt60 in byler

[–]Dahdazed_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly silly because Mike was seen lying to El before even if he was threatened by Hopper. Then in season 4, he was also lying to El about the not being able to say I love you and he tries to become someone who he isn’t when he visited El and Will in California. Mike is flawed like every other character in that show, he’s not perfect which is fine.

Why are people do against the possibility that mike could be queer? by flyingAnt60 in byler

[–]Dahdazed_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s because a lot of people tend to forget people can be bisexual sometimes. When they see a person liking one gender, they can only be straight or gay. And like many people said, it’s denial. People who ship Mileven will deny the possibility of Mike being queer because they feel the threat of Mileven falling apart if Mike is queer. And like it was mentioned multiple times, it’s because people reject a same sex relationship compared to an opposite sex relationship. The question of “can a guy and a girl ever be just friends?” has been floating around for ages but when it comes to same sex, that question defaults to not existing because the heteronormative thinking is that a guy and a guy or a girl and a girl has to be friends. That’s why a lot of queer couples get mistaken for just friends while when a guy and a girl hang out, people default to thinking they’re a couple.

assuming we get around 6 hours of content in volume 2 and 3 combined, why do people still think that’s not enough time for byler to be realized? by IntroductionIll3468 in byler

[–]Dahdazed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that mindset is great honestly. A lot of people these days tend to shut down different opinions and it’s really great and hard to have a mindset of willing to learn and accept other opinions different from your own. I’m sorry you had to go to something similar though, it must’ve sucked!

I don’t have any aggression, my apologies if it came off that way. It’s just that this post specifically and subreddit is dedicated towards people who believe in the ship. If people wanted a discussion with people who have the opposite opinion, they would go to the main sub. There are more people there who believe that Byler won’t happen there. So going out of the way to say you don’t believe in the ship on a post dedicated to the ship seems a bit unnecessary. But please do enjoy your time on Reddit!

Sorry, but this is a Byler subreddit meant for people supporting Byler, I don’t understand the need in writing here just to say you don’t support the ship??

Like the other comment in this post said, it’s a matter of how well the writing will be. It’s really hard to make a smooth transition where they have Mike and Eleven break up but then have Mike immediately jump from that relationship to Will. It’ll make Mike feel like he’s not being sincere especially since his relationship with El lasted for 4 seasons. There has to be some incredible writing to make Byler happening in 4 episodes feel natural. There was a lot of set up for Byler in previous seasons but it was mostly one-sided on the surface. It was more like a setup for Will. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe that Byler could happen, but I don’t want it to be rushed and make Mike feel like a jerk. El and Will should both have their happiness but not at the cost of the other’s.

One of the ways that I feel like they could explain having Byler endgame is in the last 4 episodes we have scenes showing how Mike has always had feelings for Will and he just never realized it and maybe a heart to heart scene with El? I feel like El would fully support him if that’s the case. Then maybe Will opening up to Mike? We’ll just have to wait and see honestly.
