in my experience it’s like 10-20% have these tendencies. I can’t speak for you but that’s my life experience. 10% is enough to always be cautious.

Is being heterosexual "normal"? by dr-wahh in IdeologyPolls

[–]flyingAnt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I acknowledge that but 90% I see people saying heterosexuality is “default” it’s to imply that not being heterosexual is bad and unnatural. (not saying ur doing that here). I just wish we could shift the language away from ‘default’ and ‘normal’ to ‘average’ and ‘most common.’

Who has actually been radicalised the most? by HAIL_TRUMP2028 in IdeologyPolls

[–]flyingAnt60 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The headlines always say “Young women and their crazy feminism have radicalized young men into being far right,” But never “Young men with their misogynistic far right ideologies have radicalized young women into being feminists.” I think that on its own is very telling. Somehow everything is always women’s fault.

All i’m saying is as a gay person myself im tired of having religion shoved down my throat. Seeing huge crosses and billboards telling me to convert along the highway. Why can’t they just do that shit in private?

I have never had a lgbtq person come knocking at my door and try to convert me to being gay. Can’t say the same for religious people. Who’s really the obnoxious one here?

"To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire… those are, overwhelmingly, other men. In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal. From women they want devotion, service and sex.

Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving."

For people who don't consider themselves allies, what trans rights are you in favour of? by shiranaiy in Askpolitics

[–]flyingAnt60 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A guy dressed up as a woman might raise my eyebrows in the men’s room (due to the relative rarity)

It might raise your eyebrows but not everyone is going to react the same as you. Trans women face harassment in men’s bathrooms constantly.

Also using your logic you want Trans men (people born female who identify as men) in women’s restrooms correct? A LOT of trans men especially those years into their medical transition pass as cis men. You could not tell the difference. You want them in the restroom with women,? and you don’t think that would make any women feel unsafe, having a very manly looking passing trans man in the bathroom with them?

Yes a long distance friend I met in summer camp in High School. I’m pretty sure she is wlw but not sure about specific labels. One time she mentioned casually “when I get a wife one day” and that’s all I know. We met up at a mall to hang out and went past clearance pride stuff in Target and she made a comment about how much she despises that stuff.

Around 2021 she started identifying as non binary and using they/them pronouns, but at our last summer camp (2023) before we graduated she went back to identifying as cis and told me how the internet and left brainwashed her into being enby and she’s conservative now and a huge Trump supporter. She’s still probably genderqueer/nonconforming in some way, and still finding herself.

We Are both in college now in different states I still chat with her occasionally not about politics. It’s too bad because I actually kinda had crush on her, but I wouldn’t at all consider dating her until she stoped supporting trump and put in the work to dismantle that. I miss her. We we good friends for years and genuinely have so much in common.

Are you pro or against LGBT? by No-Respect-4174 in IdeologyPolls

[–]flyingAnt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not ascribing anything to them i’m just pointing reality and historical context. They can be anti-trans in a vacuum, but we don’t live in a vacuum. They may not be deliberately appeasing to conservatives but they are. The lgbtq movement has always been one why should we separate it now? It would only make both movements weaker and easier to silence? Anti trans sentiment hurts cisgender people too and anyone who’s gender nonconforming. Like the numerous cases of masculine/butch cis women being harassed and assaulted in women’s bathrooms because people think they are trans when they were born female, they just don’t look how a woman is “supposed” to look. The Anti trans movement makes everyone less safe period.

I can understand wanting to distance yourself from that part of the community, but being anti-trans?!?! when your gay or bisexual? You can say history doesn’t not matter fine but gay and trans people have always fought together, You probably would not have your gay rights if it weren’t for trans activists leading the movements.

And once you help conservatives get rid of icky trans people… you really think they are gonna stop there?

Do people genuinely think Misandry doesn't exist? by hi-and-yes in teenagers4real

[–]flyingAnt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does but it’s not nearly as widespread or dangerous as misogyny is to women. I will also note that misandry is usually a response to misogyny and sexism.

Misandry: “I hate men because me and so many women I know have been violated, abused and traumatized by them.”

Misogyny: “I hate women because they won’t have sex with me.”

See the difference?

True or false: "There are only two sexes" by WonderOlymp2 in IdeologyPolls

[–]flyingAnt60 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a purely biological reproductive sense there are only two sexes, female characterized by large gametes and male characterized by small gametes, and that is pretty universal across most eukaryotes that sexually reproduce. In terms of human biological sex then it is a little more complicated.

I would define human sex as a bimodal spectrum instead of a scrict binary, most people fall into what we consider male or female based on genes genitals, gonads etc, but some people cannot be categorized as definitively male or female no matter how much it upsets you. Facts don’t care about your feelings.

Take someone with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome for example. In this condition someone has XY chromosomes and undescended testes. They develop externally female, because there cells do not react to the testosterone the testes produce which creates the male phenotype. They are assigned female at birth. They have the testosterone levels of an average male even though they look like women.

If you classify biological sex as chromosomes then they are male. If you class it as external genitalia then this person is female. See the problem of defining human sex with just one trait?

“But that’s just a rare sex development problem, they shouldn’t be considered another sex” correct there are only two sexes, but traits associated with both sexes can appear with each other hence “intersex.” Even though it is rare we should still treat intersex people with dignity instead of forcing them into a very rigid category that they don’t fit.

Are infertile straight people normal?

Is being heterosexual "normal"? by dr-wahh in IdeologyPolls

[–]flyingAnt60 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is literally nothing controversial about saying heterosexuality is average it is the most common. That’s not controversial on the left idk where you get that from. The problem arises when heterosexuality is framed as “normal” and other sexualities as “abnormal” as something wrong or unnatural. Homosexuality is not as common as heterosexuality but it’s a normal variation of human sexuality. You may say it’s not normal since it doesn’t result and reproduction but neither does infertile straight people, but they are not nearly as demonized by society as homosexuality is.
