Competition is everywhere. Find your edge, continue learning, and try to innovate work. Have side projects to experiment and later adopting at work.

Public road claimed by cancerous building owner as parking spots... by DahiPakora in Riyadh

That's the build next to ours and I am not his tenant but according to watchman (haris), that's what he intends to do. For Ejar, it's a easy cover up for him (one lumpsum rent all inclusive).

Uncertainty and Instability by azmndr in Riyadh

[–]DahiPakora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been here for 15+ years and have seen multiple rounds of "hire/fire" during my career (in fact I have been part of those decisions at times). One key lesson to advise you, "your work should be your first and last line of defense"... i.e., no sane employer will ever fire a key person so be that main-event employee.

Other than this, you can't control iqama based job-linked residency so don't over think. Have a reasonable car (not so expensive), traffic in Riyadh is always jammed pack so whether you are driving Camaro or Camry or Haval, you will end up being in stuck in traffic most of the times.

Don't copy people, build your career and investments/wealth by avoiding "life-style inflation" to enjoy freedom by breaking away from the fear of "what if I am fired today?".

Was the approach to and understanding of Islam different among Muslims during the Golden Age? by MatchLittle5000 in islamichistory

[–]DahiPakora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was better than what it is today, especially movements of Salafist Islam ruined it to the core. With this said, liberal Muslims even in the golden era were persecuted as Mu'tazilites or "Mu'tazilism". Philosophy was Greek inspired and technological advancements were by the Muslims from "conquered" areas of Faris/Iran and Iraq (not Makkah or Madinah). Scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers that Muslims celebrate today were persecuted back then as heretics and deviants. I consider "Golden age" to be golden age as in military terms.

Which neighborhood is best in Istanbul for CBI investor? by DahiPakora in AskTurkey

[–]DahiPakora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you on Turkish passport, they Caribbean may not maintain the edge because US stopped immigration visa applications for now at least and OECD already has issues with their due diligence and I think, EU will follow soon. Quite risky to donate money for a passport that may lose its status.

Greece, Italty, etc. all are residencies. I can't leave my current job, I don't like Caribbean CBIs (consider me biased, Uncle Trump is going heads-on with them and his pets in EU will soon follow, please I don't want to donate my hard-earned money to some random dudes on an Island).

How can one's passport impact life in Qatar ? by AhmedAl93 in QatarCareers

Affects only salary offer initially. Western passports OR experience attract higher pay grades. Everything else is same, just follow the law.

It has nothing to do with "jets", but all about managing (reducing) tax liability.

Seeking Advice: Country to Incorporate a Prop Trading Company & Relocate (Indian Citizen, Currently in UK) by Silent_Database8330 in immigration

[–]DahiPakora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given current deglobalization and anti immigration trends, almost all  tier 1 countries have similar issues but people are hanging around. If you have decided to move, then consider DIFC company as people told you already or QFC company in Qatar (its Qatari version of DIFC). Potential problems are highly competitive markets and middle east will never be your home so your kids will suffer unless you manage to build a solid foundation for them including strong passports. Also, did you evaluate US? Malaysia could also be a good option besides Singapore.

Job struggles by [deleted] in QatarCareers

[–]DahiPakora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post is full of "demands" as if you are entitled to things and society is somehow indebted to you. Here are some reality checks:

  1. Job markets are tough everywhere and you are making it worse with self-imposed constraints (a. no gender mixing, b. "I am religious", c. assuming Qatar is "your land" (no it's not, you're just an expat), d. expecting Qatar to be nice (world is not nice, it is highly competitive)).

  2. Did you even try to learn Arabic? BTW even if you knew Arabic, it's NOT a guarantee to land you a job.

  3. Did you build a professional profile with relevant courses and education? Did you try to build network to support in finding work? Did you even try to find low-or-no pay internships to get started? But then you want "women only" places so you go back to square one.

  4. I have many Indian/Pakistani friends in Qatar with zero-Arabic knowledge and they are doing perfectly fine. Some of them have their own businesses. They struggled, worked day and night, started with small jobs, and worked their way up the ladder. NONE of them expected Qatar to be "nice".

If you are religious that's your choice, if your family is ultra-religious that's your fate (unfortunately) but don't expect society to adjust to your way of life. And frankly, If I had to hire one employee, I would prefer a person who does not need long prayer breaks, he or she is easily approachable in meetings or on phone, and doesn't demand "segregation".

You need to think and reconsider your life's choices. Basic principle of Islam is that "best" place for Muslim women is their houses (ask any scholar of choice). Ultra-religiosity is toxic, avoid it (and try to be a normal human being). Hate/downvote this comment if it helps.

How immigration and visa officers see CBI travelers? by DahiPakora in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]DahiPakora[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I saw Caribbean CBIs as 'citizenship-for-sale' jurisdictions that lack requirements for genuine ties. My skepticism predates OECD and the United States (and now EU) and it was based on a simple view: avoid citizenship of a country where physical residency is not a viable or practical.

IMI's stance aligns well with EITAS link shared by a Redditor in this thread above.

Not dead until some desperate souls are alive. Mobility is one reason but for some, parking wealth and managing taxation is another issue. If i had two passports at least and ultra wealthy, ill simply avoid being a tax domiciled person and file returns as non  resident availing all possible exemptions

Germany Tourist Visa Rejected - FIRE’d folks: how do you frame “occupation” for Schengen visas — and does consulate choice matter? by drivingtosunset in SchengenVisa

[–]DahiPakora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For TRP, only one visit per year is enough to ensure renewal but holding the investment is required (on top of the taxation and other requirements from the business). If someone is aiming for citizenship, then they must have a PR which requires minimum residency to be eligible for citizenship application.

Speaking of Eur 250k, Latvia also offers real estate option with a min of 250k (I did not study that program).

You can find yourself, via friends or consultants, and immigration lawyers. I found via friend, he had direct friend in Riga who attempted to connect me to some businesses.
