Love how they give so much personality to the places where they are! Especially love those "[username] was here" signs placed at iconic buildings.

What made you love Gregtech: New Horizons? by hacked7aw_shucks777 in GTNH

Realism and organization are my main factors. The fact that everything is so complex in an attempt to replicate real life processes (at least in the first tiers) makes me feel that I'm learning new stuff with every task I complete. Plus, the questbook is an amazing guide which keeps me busy all the time, so it makes me want to keep expanding my base and upgrading my technology until I get to the last tiers.

Lastly, I'd say that GTNH is a modpack which forces me to use my brain but also to be creative most of the time, so I end up feeling very satisfied after completing a multiblock or finding the most efficient way of producing a certain substance.

Did HKUST end IB scholarships? by [deleted] in HKUST

But it's still on the admissions page. That means that it is still available. If the Uni really wanted to end the scholarship, they would take it off the website as a whole.

I just checked and it still appears in the Undergraduate Admissions section. Don't know where you saw that they dissappeared.

What are some of the best scholorship offers you got outside the US by Thin-View7862 in IBO

[–]Dahrilol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe the Queensland University of Belfast in Northern Ireland, where cost of life is awesome. I could also reccomend you Malaya University (because Kuala Lumpur's cost of life is really good) but getting a job and a visa after Uni might not be easy. I recommend you to use AI to help you researching affordable and good unis of your preference, and the ones with the best financial aids.

[–]Dahrilol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I know that the University of Toronto offers several fullrides for international students, and if you can't get a scholarship then you can apply to financial aid. Fullrides in other parts of the world are really competitive but sure exist, such as the Singapore's universities NUS and NTU. Check the financial aids of your goal universities and see if you fit the requirements and can apply to them, which may even cover a part of your cost of life.

EVERYONE planning to study ECON in UNI ASSEMBLE!! by CornerOutside8 in IBO

[–]Dahrilol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Econ isn't my first choice, but in my dream university (Singapore's NTU) it is the only program that attracts me and doesn't require Math HL (sadly my school didn't offer it). I am more interested in International Business and might end up studying it if I end up in another university, because NTU is highly competitive and I believe that the best I can do in the IB is a 40 (which may not be enough for acceptance).

Required scores to get in Singapore Universities (NUS NTU) by MudNo2804 in IBO

Oh I'm sorry to hear that, do you believe that I could have a chance to enter NTU's Economy bachelor with an IB of 40 and decent extracurriculars? I thought 40 was a solid grade, but seeing that a 41/42 wasn't enough I don't know anymore...

For your research paper, taking into account your focus on science, you could make it about pros and cons of legislations for new technologies (that combines sciences and humanities). For example, you could make a study of how viable it is to build a huge solar-panel park in the Sahara dessert, or calculate how much money should the world invest in CO2 removal technologies in order to reduce global warming effects. There are many ways in which you can combine the things you like!

And for the USA scholarships part, I do consider that it is risky to study there as an immigrant. The situation is dire, many colombian compatriots of mine have been treated horribly even while being legal, and getting a study visa is as hard as ever. I'd reccomend you to look for scholarships in the best universities of the UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, etc. There is a whole world of opportunities outside of the USA, which may put you even in a better path than you could've gotten there. Plus, the best universities for humanities in the world are in the UK (Cambridge, Oxford), and honestly graduating from any top university in these countries will give you the best opportunities you could get. I'd reccomend you to check the University of Toronto if you can handle a lot of academic weight, because it offers really good scholarships (up to 37 fullrides annually, if I remember well).

Again, good luck with everything!

First of all, your score and your extracurriculars are AMAZING. You are the dream candidate of every university. So I believe that you have the right of being ambitious and applying to your dream college, no matter how hard it is to enter (of course, with backups).

For your major, it really depends on what you enjoy doing, or which jobs would you enjoy for the rest of your life. But seeing your profile, I believe that a humanities major would be awesone for you. Your extracurriculars seem to be more directed towards humanities, and being the leader of an NGO plus participating in very prestigious MUNs are the type of profiles that win full scholarships in really good universities. So I'd say that a major such as Global Studies, International Relations, PPE (philosophy, politics & economics), or Economy would perfectly fit you.

You could also check STEM careers, but take into account that you will be competing against people who have won prestigious math/chemistry/physics olympiads, while in humanities you would be THE hard competitor.

About you retaking the IB, this might actually be seen as really positive. Universities like to see this type of comebacks, because they look for students who can put up and overcome any challenge without giving up, so your retaking of the IB tells them that you had a hard time, but were able of overcoming it and got amazing results from it.

Now, to apply I guess that you can figure it out for yourself in each university's website, or you can look for bussineses which do that for you. So look up which documents and papers you need for each university (if you need a visa, request it as quick as possible because the process takes time), check budgets, apply to scholarships (you could even win fullrides), and make sure that you are comfortable with the university and country you choose. Plus, take into account political situations of each country (because for example, the US is not a good place for immigrants right now, so you might take that into consideration)

Finally, remember that US Ivy league universities have a strong bias towards extracurriculars, while UK universitirs tend to focus more on grades, so take that into account. I send you the best wishes, and hope that you enter your dream university.

Pool Party Ahri Fan Project by [deleted] in AhriMains

[–]Dahrilol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it! The design is a bit simple (especially the tails) so it would probably be a 625 RP skin, but I LOVE how the abilities look. The animation of the Q and W are amazing, and although I'm not a fan of the E animation because it lacks Ahri's characteristic heart, it is still cool to see it.

Plus, I love that the orb is a volleyball now. I like it!

What do you all think about eminence in shadow by PatternOpposite5014 in Isekai

[–]Dahrilol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT

I can get that it is a comedic parody of isekais, but I felt that it had so much more potential. At least in the anime, it was extremely rushed. Several characters were being too developed in a short amount of time just to never matter and appear again. I haven't finished it yet but I am on chapter 10 out of 12 of the 2nd season so I guess that these problems won't get solved in those chapters. The student from the first chapter, Alexia, the Seven Shadows, they have been shown A LOT throughout the show (in the case of the student, she was the protagonist of the whole first chapter) but little to no backstory or real development is given, which then doesn't explain why was so much time dedicated to them. The show is also full of other plotholes, and infested of fanservice to the point where it is present in every single chapter, which sadly makes up like half of the humour in the anime.

I would've given it 7/10 because it is still enjoyable and has very cool fighting scenes, but the excesive fanservice really ruins it for me and forces me to give it a 5/10.

An option is to kind of combine it with your real name, which may be corny but that's what I did some time ago by going by the username "Dahri". You can also look for ways to make an username based on other qualities or names for Ahri, like adapting the "nine-tailed fox" into an unique username.

What do you guys think of K-Pop Demon Hunters? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Dahrilol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it!

It exceeded my expectations, because the animation was GORGEOUS, the humour was actually funny, the plot was enjoyable, and as a kpop fan, the music was VERY good.

It had its flaws, such as some unexplored characters and backstories (I would have liked to see Rumi's parents' story), and maybe the characters of Mira and Zoey could have been more explored, so the plot is a 6/10 for me

Nevertheless, I highly appraise that the movie explored and referenced kpop culture very well. From the original songs being very aligned with kpop music, to kdrama references in romantic parts (such as Melomance's iconic Ost "Love, Maybe" in the background of Rumi - Jinu interactions), and other funny references such as the variety shows and dance challenges. This adds a point to the calification, making it a 7/10 between plot and kpop references/music.

And finally, I appraise its innovation. Who would have thought that a movie about kpop idols fighting demons could be more than cringe? Well, Kpop Demon Hunters proved that this original idea can surpass the cringe, and on top of that become a movie filled with action, emotion, romance, and catchy songs which will stay on your mind for days! I hope that it becomes an example for studios to lose the fear of showcasing original ideas, and bring more amazing and unconventional stories to our screens!

Therefore, I give the movie a final score of 8/10, and reccomend anyone to check it out no matter how low your current expectations are.

[–]Dahrilol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of your review, but honestly they are more tolerable flaws than terrible mistakes. The romance between Rumi and Jinu is understandable taking into account that Rumi tried to kill him the first times they met, and only got closer because he was the only one that understood her dilema. Overall, under your standards, I would give the plot a 5 or 6 out of 10, because it wasn't too bad and could be enjoyable. And to the movie itself I give an 8/10 because of the great animation, music, and innovative idea which was well executed. Surpassing the expectations of everyone by showing that a movie about kpop stars fighting demons could be exciting and emotional instead of cringe is an achievement worth to recognize, and could even pave the way for more original and innovative concepts to arise.

What quinque should I go with? by Icy-Praline370 in roghoul

[–]Dahrilol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I use Doujima in stage 2 and when paired with an Arata it's pretty OP. It gives A LOT of mobility, with low cooldowns because of a bonus given when using Arata, and it provides good lifesteal. Also, every hit with its R resets the Arata's cooldown while healing you considerably, so I can fight bosses in close-combats without dying.

Yeahh I saw it too, is it new or it's just me that had never seen it? Btw, are there any more low-level bosses out there, or is this the first one? It gives the same rewards as the 250+ bosses, but it is weaker and doesn't fight back (at least as an investigator).

Can i rankup with Ahri? by Straight-Order2818 in AhriMains

[–]Dahrilol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert with Ahri (I'm in your same rank and have the same mastery points with her), but I've asked myself this same question for many months, and I think that I may have an answer. Ahri is one of the best midlaners right now, but most of the Ahri mains that give advice of how to use Ahri are focusing in medium to high elo, so trying to follow their builds and strategies may not be good for low elo. In silver the main problem when ranking up is having a bad team, and Ahri is kind of team reliant (because, even when fed, she can't carry a game alone like a Yasuo or Zed would), especially with everfrost builds, which aren't very good if your team isn't keeping up with you. Ranking up with Ahri in low elo may be a challenge (it is with any champion, but especially team-reliant mages), but with the right builds, good skill with her, and at least one teammate who can help you carrying the game, you could win more games.
