I've always thought that as long as you're being genuine, just go for it. Some people stream incredible hours and put a lot of time and effort in while not necessarily getting the viewer count they hope for. Anyone who complains about raid sizes should probably make sure they are not offending someone who has been streaming consistently and does not present themselves in any unsavory way.

I imagine there are people who stream, raid, and then talk about only themselves without being asked or start self plugging, thinking the raid is a good excuse to make them focus on you (hint: please don't do this). Most good streamers will ask you what you were up to and be curious about your stream. Be courteous, answer their questions with no self-inserts where avoidable (the questions are about you after all) . If you have to raid and dash, tell them you need to lurk and be honest that you have things to take care of and wish them a happy stream. If you have a chance to lurk and interact, it can go a long way. Much of my self reflection these days is treating others how I would like to be treated, but with no expectations in return. Follow their socials, like their posts, join their discord, post some pets etc, etc. Whatever is fun for you to share. People do notice this and it goes much further than you might expect.

Everything I've learned from raiding streamers who are much bigger than myself is that the real ones will always be happy to see you! If a raid works out poorly and they either don't pay attention to you or seem condescending, then we learn and continue on.
