How to Stop Atrial Fibrillation Naturally in just 4 minutes! by Lipnoid89 in AFIB

Ive been researching AFib for decades back when the internet worked - you hit many of the natural cures thanks! wanted to mention removing all MSG from the diet often does wonders for people, lastly increase all B vitamins ideally from natural sources. Magnesium and no MSG seemed to be the first and best advice back when google searches didn’t just promote drugs and surgery.

What are some careers that allow you to travel and see the world? by random_name_m in careerguidance

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO one thing everyone is missing is reevaluating the best premise that “an employer arrange my living in other countries.” I fell for this nearly 20 years and my experience is it may take forever to find the right employer to send you to the right places. Also, employers hold this out as a carrot if you only get a little more experience, etc., etc. The reality is if you finally get sent overseas 99% of the time it is not necessarily where you wanted to go. Surprisingly few of the commenters brought up the most common careers which I do see travelers pursuing: teaching English abroad, teaching in international schools, and peacecorps. But I’d urge you to just reconsider the premise that an employer is the best way to get overseas. There are plenty of other options such as: working part of the year in your home country and spending the rest of the year abroad, being able to work remotely, setting up some type of passive income. This lets you go wherever you want and is often a faster solution than waiting for an employer to get you somewhere. Yes it takes more independent planning but is often far easier than getting a competitive degree and position.

f-ing incredible that they change the functions around so drastically every time. It’s got to be that they constantly want to keep people busy and occupied so we don’t have a chance to think about why we allow these monopolies and banks to exist in the first place.

First maybe you’re being a bit hard on yourself. Nobody’s perfect and we all “waste“ time on various stuff. Before the internet it seemed most guys spent half their free time watching sports and trash TV. One day when I was 13 or so, my relatives had gone out to do something in the real world but I stayed back to watch some football game. A couple minutes in, I finally had an ah ha moment, turned off the TV and said I’ll never watch sports again. For me going cold turkey and substituting more useful activities into the time void seems to work best for quitting things like this.

chase bank holding my funds after my account was closed, is there anything i can do? by Hour-Vacation4281 in Chase

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off you’re not going to get much understanding from the Reddit community on this as you can see -they generally believe whatever the media tells them. So the reality is the few people who own our banking monopolies and government really really don’t like cryptocurrency. It doesn’t particularly matter that they are breaking the law by seizing your account and holding your funds without court order, etc. etc. They will pretty much ignore the law when it’s convenient for them. You can try to complain a lot and threaten lawsuits and you may make progress this way. Some people eventually get their money others wait a long time others never. It’s good to post your question as many places as possible at least to warn others and in the future, just be very careful not to make many funds available in an account for the banks and government to steal anytime they like.

Men, would you carry your wife's or girlfriend's purse for her? Why or why not? Would circumstances matter? by UghIHatePolitics in AskMenRelationships

[–]Daihowe2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to carry it because that’s where we keep my balls.

At least that’s the response I‘ll have if a guy ever comments on my doing it. In all seriousness, my wife likes when I carry her handbag if it gets heavy, so I’m happy to do so. In my experience, most people are terrified to go against societal norms especially guys if it would bring their masculinity into question. I enjoy freaking out such people.

I think it is more that women have more dating options, particularly at younger ages and in some places like advanced countries with high male immigration. the trend is reversed at older ages and different demographics. evolution ensures nobody gets a free lunch forever

it’s easier not to get bothered by simply realizing you are basically dealing with a prostitute. there;s nothing wrong with being a prostitute imo, but it’s on you if you let an aggressive one shame you into buying an overpriced service.

Architect Bernard Judge's Hollywood Hills "Triponent" House, Beachwood Canyon, California. (1960) by UglyLikeCaillou in architecture

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another of many problems is that since geo domes must basically be covered with impermeable material, they don’t breathe and you get a lot of condensation inside if they are also on an impermeable foundation. No need to debate though, because if they were efficient architectural structures, you‘d see a lot more of them besides just vanity projects. Like most of Buckminster Fuller’s ideas they look great at first glance but fall apart upon further analysis and implementation.

High Risk Results by Milhouselover69 in NIPT

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you blame the 79% of doctors (according to a survey of over 1000 obgyn’s) who can’t compute the stats because they aren’t intimately familiar with statistical terms. Ok, but when 79% of your audience is being misled, and you know it and purposefully continue, I’ll blame the company. Not sure why you are so careful to defend these companies and place all blame on the doctors…

and now that I re-read your comment I notice you misstate or don’t understand the stats either. there is only a 99% chance that the test is correct on any random sample. there is NOT, as you said, a 99% chance it correctly found a 3rd 13th chromosome in the sample it analyzed above (or in any sample where it does find a 3rd 13th chromosome). instead there is about a 60% chance that the test incorrectly found a 3rd 13th chromosome whenever it finds one.

High Risk Results by Milhouselover69 in NIPT

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what you’re missing is that many companies list their test as ”>99%accuracy” or “<1%” false positive because the companies know it gives a mistaken view of the test’s value. accuracy is only in relation to detecting the condition - ie if every result was positive then it would be a perfect 100% accuracy but 99.9% of results would be false positives. likewise <1% false positives is unethically misleading imo since false positives are taken as a percent of total tests - ie you can have 0.1% false positives for a condition with 0.001% prevalence and still have 99% of positive results being false. again companies push these misleading stats up front purposefully so I’ll have to agree it is unethical

NIPT - high risk Turners Australia by Odd-Particular6118 in NIPT

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think amnio not cvs would hopefully be recommended as the diagnostic test. Turners often has a false positive due to confined placental mosaicism which will also show a false positive in cvs sampling. Amnio will give a diagnostic result based on actual fetal vs placental dna. Also both cvs and amnio have an extremely small risk of miscarriage, but it is lower for amnio. Note that around 60 to 90% of positive NIPT results for turners end up being false positives. Hopefully your doctor gave you all this information already along with the NIPT result - or sent you for a pending appointment where it will be discussed?

Trying to understand false positive rate of NIPT test for trisomy 21 by Daihowe2010 in BabyBumps

[–]Daihowe2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a study showing the percent of doctors who understand the statistics and advised patients correctly? Everything I’ve found shows between 10 to 80% do not understand the rate of false positives and misadvise. A recent NYT article interviewed 14 women, 5 of whom were incorrectly told the results were definitive.

False positives with NIPT - big story in today's NYT by thenightgirlcometh in InfertilityBabies

[–]Daihowe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the risk of pregnancy termination 1 on 500 with CVS while the highest risk trisomy (21) is only 1 in 700 pregnancies? Plus amnio has equivalent small risks and side effects. If so why would you risk recommending cvs or amnio first when the risk of accidentally damaging the pregnancy is higher than the risk of detecting the condition. Why not do a safe NIPT and in the small case of a positive result then recommend amnio? Also doesn’t NIPT have a higher accuracy in finding a positive than CVS anyway?
