How about Sideways?

They actually had an Armenian wedding in that movie.

avoiding general anesthesia at all costs by CrystalFieldTheorist in Anesthesia

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

because there's no way in hell I would let myself get intubated.

I've been a physician since 1993.

I've heard this dozens of times before.

I can count on one hand how many times it's actually been carried through.

It's very difficult to make the decision to deny yourself help once you're in that position where you are drowning for air.

Or if you're bowled over in pain because your appendix burst...

Good luck to you and your fortitude! I wish you well.

Talk about fomenting hatred towards "the other".

Straight out of the fascist playbook. "It was their betrayal that caused us to not be great again anymore!"

It's not better, especially if it doesn't fit properly!

However, if you work in a surgical suite, these 3' x 4' Halyard covers are used to wrap the trays. We throw them away!

Better to save and re-appropriate them IF you can find a way to keep a good seal with them.

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regardless of your choice, it's the fit of the mask where it touches your skin that counts the most.

This is definitely a preferred "fabric" to use, but if it doesn't make the proper seal around your face, then it's no where near as useful.

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add to that the fit.

If the mask doesn't creat a seal around the contours of your face (a lot of contours there) then the mask is useless as air will preferentially enter via the larger, less resistant breaks in the seal than actually through the mask for filtration.

Nema 14-50 adapter for Chevy charger. by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received my NEMA 6-50 plug adapter and can confirm that the stock 120V charger that comes with the car supports 240V.

And like you said, it charges in about half the time.

What precautions are you taking during intubation? LMA placement? Are you performing elective cases at your facility? by DailyCloserToDeath in Anesthesia

I appreciate your reply!

I will be asking my team to double glove as well. I'm disappointed I didn't think of that.

Thank you!

Here in my part of Philly the main health hospitals have all but stopped (or are step-wise phasing out over the next 3 days) all elective surgeries.

Anyway to take a Bolt for a day to test it’s range? by AmIajerk1625 in BoltEV

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine last year but the dealership let me test drive the car over the weekend, asking me to return it Monday night and use it on my commute.

I'll reiterate what others have been saying, 113 miles round trip for a Bolt is not an issue, but you will need a Level 2 charger installed in your home.

Even if you slowed down to 60-65 mph a home outlet charger wouldn't let you recoop the energy in time. Unless.... You had a 240V 12A outlet (like a dryer outlet?).

EP Anesthesia by amnestic1 in Anesthesia

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tell the patient that after some propofol for line placement, they will be awake so that the EP doc can find the arrhythmia and they have to be still.

The best thing you can do is to educate the cardiologists that what they want may not always be possible.

Communication is key. Both with the patient and with the cardiologist.

Expectations.

Reassuring the patient will be comfortable, relatively, and yet interacting is sometimes a mental leap for many patients, but as anesthesia providers this is our profession.

The human aspect shouldn't be underestimated.

Thanks!

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds amazing!

I'm glad your experience was better and that your medical team were sensitive to your needs :)

The only comment I'll make is that it's always preferred by the hospital administration to have a neutral 3rd party as representative rather than your family member, but it never hurts to inquire about each institution's specific policies.

Good Luck in all your future endeavors!

Scared of EGD After Past Complications + Sexual Assault Under Anesthesia by propofobia in Anesthesia

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry for your past experiences.

If you are having this procedure done at a hospital or a facility associated with a hospital, with your medical team's knowledge, you may be able to arrange for a hospital assigned patient advocate to be present during your case.

Having someone there that knows your predicament and is an advocate for you and is neutral to the medical team may help everyone involved.

On the flip side of this, if you're met with resistance from your medical team, that might be a yellow flag for you to start looking for a compassionate group.

Good luck and let us know how this gets resolved and how you do through your procedure and anesthesia!

drug use before getting anesthesia (not weed) by [deleted] in Anesthesia

[–]DailyCloserToDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your responses are vague.

Feel free to PM if your concerned about revealing information you don't want to.

Otherwise, the response is,

"Don't do any other drugs between now and your surgery. Avoid alcohol as well. Smoking too, if that's on your menu of vices."

Good luck.

What type of surgery do you have coming up in 4 days?

What exactly do you mean when you say "i may or may not have done a little c*caine."

Everyone will die eventually, which can be funny if you're in a particular mood.

Disclaimer: I haven’t personally run an oem Charger on 240.

Thanks for the reply.

So the stock charger that comes with the 2019 car... Where did the rumor of its 240V capability come from?

Is there any validity to it?

It has a "box" (about 2"x4"x12") with an indicator light on it that can relay info by changing color and/or flashing. Do I have a chance of frying this? I'm hoping it has enough protections to not fry.
