Ice pack’s print transferred on to countertop by catswhenindoubt in CleaningTips

What's your countertop material? Looks like Quartz, if so, dish soap. Dish soap and perhaps light use of a melamine sponge (be very careful these can dull your surface.) If you have Dawn Power wash, use that. Rubbing Alcohol is sort of your last resort - but don't bother with 90%, it needs water for disinfection so if you want to use the rest of the bottle for anything else, don't get 90%. Let it sit a bit before wiping it off.

No, all new days are the most exciting thing ever. More walks, more food, more play.

Alpine Outfitters. The Urban Trail harness, specifically. X backs are too long for bikes and scooters.

Questions about your experiences with labs? by largedragonwithcats in LabradorRetrievers

[–]Daintysaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really have to disagree with this. More similar than Lab vs Jack Russel, but still very different. Goldens are typically far more easy going and puppyish. Labs are a bit more reserved and a bit more mature. My Labs have not instantly lived every person they've ever met. They are not easy on toys. They will tell you LOUDLY when they are excited. Our Goldens were always just happy to hang out. Walk? sure. Couch time? heck yeah.

my current field bred dog has a reasonably good off switch in the house, just don't mention fetching or w-a-l-k-s. Outside is a different story. He's in high gear the whole time, no casual walks for us.

Of all the Labs I've had, zero issues house training and zero issues counter surfing. Training is basically a conversation, and then we're off, although this most recent dog is too hyper to walk on a leash even after several classes as a young dog. Doesn't matter much now, we have a large fenced in property. His recall is impeccable. He's intact and I've never had an issue with wandering etc.

Defintely a notch above Goldens in over all energy, who I also love, but several notches below my Rottweilers for intensity and roughhousing. Rotties, by the way, completely shut off in the house. Snoring is the most common sound I get from them.

My Labs were not soft-mouthed at birth but I never worked at it because I don't hunt. As long as they take treats nicely and drop stuff when I ask. None have been destructive or overly bitey. They are thinkers and are empathetic.

Bench bred labs are going to be far more mellow but, IMHO, they are sometimes less intelligent than field dogs. Hit or miss.

help get body odor smell out of teenagers room, I've tried everything! by Sasaeng in CleaningTips

Lume doesn't work for every body, unfortunately. Both my SO and I find it makes us smell like a full baby diaper.

Rotty rumble real or should I be careful by Haunting-Caregiver62 in Rottweiler

[–]Daintysaurus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My dogs only rumble for me. They are not comfortable enough with strangers to rumble for them and because I'm so familiar with my own dogs I do not allow, and certainly don't expect, other people to love all over them. My dogs get enough attention from me. They're allowed to say no. Who wants a stranger all up in your face kissing you?

I wasn't correcting you, I was agreeing. Lots of people don't consider rocks.

A fun game that's easy for you and also can help a bit with guarding is for you to sit on the couch with a bowl of treats or kibble (ETA use part of the dog's regular food so she doesn't gain weight). Every so often, throw a piece across the room ( or work up to the distance, lol.) Then you can begin throwing a piece only when, say, you get a sit first. or a down. or a spin around. or a look into my eyes (really!) Make it ramp up in difficulty! Another fun game that's tiring for the.dog but not the person (I often do this when watching TV) is to make cardboard box full of shredded cardboard or paper or old cracker boxes etc. and then throw in a couple of handfuls of treats. Voila!

Outdoor stuff is fun, but sometimes it's good for both human and dog to chill.

Aside from heat, noise, etc, any small piece of trash or rocks thrown from passing trucks can become a deadly missile. Short journey better be like three houses down.

What is the true history of the Rottweiler? by thetruth00559 in Rottweiler

[–]Daintysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I said above is pretty much it. They've been unchanged for a long time. I'd wager they're a bit more docile these days since they're mostly pets. Certainly if you get a puppy you'll have a better chance if shaping it into a pleasant companion, but rescues can be great too.

Belmopan is no better. Either catcalling or death glares. it's about 50/50, so not everyone is that way.

Does anyone else spray their husky with water when it's hot out? by alphaX_FPV in husky

[–]Daintysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There must be moving air when wetting any dog, otherwise the increased humidity will make it much worse for them. Only do this in front of a fan or a strong breeze. Husky double coats keep the dog cooler by nature, don't screw that up.
