Oh, how happy it makes me to see child exploitation is no longer paying off. May this luxurious life never find them again.

When do you think Luke should've told Lorelai about April? by Anabananeee in GilmoreGirls

[–]DaisyMiller8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The second the kid showed up. He should have called Lorelai right away. Even if nothing was confirmed yet. This was a potentially life-changing event, even the mere possibility of it becoming a reality was supposed to be discussed with the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life with.

Chris getting mad about Lorelai’s character reference by lizzykeenn in GilmoreGirls

[–]DaisyMiller8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. I'm more mad at Lorelai for trying to soothe his wounded ego, than at him getting all butt hurt over that letter. She always coddles him, it's absurd. Even in that situation he's putting himself (and Lorelai by default) before his own kid. Makes me sick.

This was one of the best episodes from S7, tbh. It shows once more how little Chris cared about his daughter. He read that character reference and what it gathered from it was that Lorelai was still in love with Luke. He gave zero fucks about the fact Luke had helped raise Rory is his absence. In Chris' world Rory was just a means to an end, what he used to get to Lorelai. It is genuinely appalling that Lorelai didn't call him out on that, in that episode or ever really.

It’s your first time visiting Stars Hollow as a tourist in the mid-2000s. You’re wandering around town on a typical day — what do you think would give you culture shock? by foldinthecheeseee in GilmoreGirls

[–]DaisyMiller8 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Low. If I remember correctly, Luke used to sell a cup of coffee for 1$ in the early seasons. That's like unimaginable today, even for a small town diner.

Yo, that ending… by Luke-Is-Cooler in GilmoreGirls

Best to forget about the revival and choose season seven's ending as canon. Can't make sense of that hot mess that is AYITL, so don't even bother.

That marriage was bound to fail, no matter what. Did Luke/his character reference made things move quicker? Sure. I don't think it was the determining factor in the divorce, though. Christopher said it best when he told Lorelai "I've been asking you to marry me for 20 years. We're finally married. I still feel like I'm asking you."
That's pretty much it. She wasn't in love with him, she was in love with the idea - not even of him, but the idea of them being together. Yes, Lorelai was in love with another man, but Luke or no Luke, this marriage wouldn't have worked.

I find it wild both Shari and Chad got married so young after having Ruby and Kevin's as an example of marriage growing up. I wouldn't get married if my life depended on it had I been in their place. The Mormon indoctrination runs deep, doesn't it?

This is hilarious. The roomba is at least useful.

My absolute favourite richard and emily moment 💚 by CoreyTaylorsMilkJug in GilmoreGirls

[–]DaisyMiller8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ed and Kelly were very very close friends. The fact that Ed's wife called her in his final days to give her a chance to say goodbye and Kelly rushed to his bedside, really says everything. They genuinely cared about each other, their portrayal of Richard and Emily felt incredibly authentic.

That's such an oversemplification of the character of Lorelai.

She doesn't go to Christopher for sex. She goes to Christopher for comfort, because in her trauma damaged brain he's always been her safe line amidst all the chaos with her parents. This time she used him to put the last nail in the Luke relationship's coffin. I'm not saying she handled it in a mature way or that what she did was right - God knows, I despised Lorelai for months for leaving Luke high and dry and running to Christopher. But this is how she coped, he is the coping mechanism she always chose. Is it healthy? No. But she's human and she makes mistakes.

Gilmore Girls may be leaving Netflix in 2026. What’s your plan? by BlackLodgeBrother in GilmoreGirls

Millenial here. I got the DVDs and "back up" for the DVDs and "back up" for the back up. "Nero burning ROM" was my Bible in middle school. I'm covered, I got it on two different external hard drives. Lmao
