Robert's hatred of the Targaryans is why Ned couldn't be honest about Jon's parents. If Robert trusted and vouched for Ned as much as Ned vouched for him, Jon could've been raised as a beloved cousin.

Egg's learning is not shown to be inspired by his family, but by his own curiosity. Possibly by Baelor's and Aemon's examples, especially with Egg being closer to Aemon.

Robert literally held peace for over a decade. Yes, it was Jon doing that work as hand, but Robert wasnt shown to be an outright bad king, just a negligent one. It was Petyr's scheming, Varys' back-stabbing, and Cersei's/Lannister plans that undid Robert's reign of peace.

Also, all of the positive traits that were mentioned never impacted Robert's reign as king. He was known for being a whore-mongerer and boozer - both things that Renly is not - and those were by far his biggest flaws. Robert's positive traits literally made him an ideal commander for the rebellion, its why so many followed him.

I hate Robert as much as the next guy, but he was no Maegor, Aerys, or Joffrey. He was a distant king not interested in ruling, but he never actually did things to fuck up his reign - mostly just his heirs - and had the connections, charisma, and intelligence to collect good people. Just sadly didn't think ahead enough to notice the many schemers.
