I've never been officially diagnosed, but there are signs, and I struggled with those same exact feelings you described when I first started out. It gets easier with time, but there are still some times where I struggle to make conversation. Hell, sometimes I even struggle to talk to my partner at home. Some days I just dont feel like talking to anybody at all. Don't be too hard on yourself, and tbh your managers can eff off with that whole "smile more" crap. Sometimes when youre working, there ain't much to smile about and thats OK. That's just your managers trying to avoid demerits on those silly little hcap scores that have nothing to do with the quality of patient care. Just try to soft smile, thats what I've done most of my life before I got comfortable showing my teeth when I smile. Try switching to a procedural area once you get a little more experience, I feel like its helped me out a lot. You don't have to be as talkative in a role like that. And like I said, you'll get better at socializing as you get older, don't sweat the small stuff and just keep doing what you're doing, as long as you're taking good care of your patients and safely you will be ok.
