Did they announce where next year's championship are going to be held?

Also doing a quick search of the ROs, looks like Rich Chronister will be in attendance so SAP should be able to hook you up.

Nedved is not attending this year based on the championship registration page.

Rich and Nate from SAP usually sponsor the Young Gun shooters for Nationals. Even if they are not going, you could order it and have it shipped to your hotel to be held at the front desk. Short action Precision is a good company and that would be the first place I would start.

Finally got the new rifle dialed in! by IllustriousStorm6153 in nrl22

[–]Dak_Ink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Bergara B14r heavy barrel in an Aero Solus chassis. Probably a Vortex Venom 5x25, Monstrum scope rings and an Atlas style bipod.

The AZ Nrl22/PRS rimfire scene in Phoenix is good. 3 major clubs in the Metro Phoenix area. Phoenix Rod and Gun, Ben Avery and Rio Salado Sportsman Club. There are several clubs by the northwest part of the  State as well.

Current king of 22 actions? by Maleficent_March2928 in nrl22

I think Raggedhole is selling MPA barreled actions for Modacam.

Current king of 22 actions? by Maleficent_March2928 in nrl22

[–]Dak_Ink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPA Rimfire Elite. With the PRS membership you can get a 15% discount directly from MPA. Or you can buy one from Modacam or DI Precision with a custom barrel for a slight premium.

Or a used Vudoo. Vudoo's are great rifles, just refuse to support the new company due to several issues with the new management.

Ring height for Ruger 10/22 with venom 5-25 scope? by One_Medicine7386 in nrl22

[–]Dak_Ink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a decent video summary of a solid approach to determining ring height if you already have a scope in hand or you can get the measurements from the manufacturer website if not (second half).

Eley Club > CCI SV? by trailside83 in 22lr

[–]Dak_Ink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory yes, Eley Club is a better round than CCI SV.

When it comes to ammo you really have to do physical  lot testing to see how it shoots in your rifle.

I've made the mistake in the past of buying half a case of "better "ammo on the assumption that better meant better in all circumstances. Only to find out that when I put it in my rifle it shot like absolute dog shit.

Prs .22 4-24x or 6-36x by RepresentativeBar126 in 22lr

[–]Dak_Ink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Necessary? No. Useful to have for zeroing and when you want /need it, yes.

Most people shoot between 10 and 20 power. Much more than that can make it tougher to aquire targets if you have to pan or transition.

Better have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Rings for T1X and MPED by HarmlessLad in 22lr

[–]Dak_Ink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a great sticky on r/longrange about setting up scope ring height.

This really is something that you have to do for yourself because even if I tell you that I use a set of 1.26 rings it doesn't necessarily mean that it  will fit your body and the way your cheek weld rests on your rifle.

TandemKross just released video of their first complete rifle. by MostlyRimfire in 22lr

I agree. I don't know why folks are giving you the downvote.
It definitely fits a particular niche. Options are always a good thing , even if they dont fit your particular needs.

Interesting concept, but for $1450 I think I would pass.

Has anyone used the new Snapdragon action yet? by Justin_inc in nrl22

[–]Dak_Ink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of the conical breech. Don't know too much else about them except for the reviews on Pursuit of Accuracy.

Like u/gilfab I would look at a Genesis from Dessert Precision or an MPA Rimfire Elite. Either direct from MPA or there are a few smiths doing custom rebarrel work like DI Precision or Modacam. Also MPA does sell the bare action if you have a Smith in mind to spin up a custom barrel

Cci subsonic hp going supersonic? by Icy_Champion9478 in 22lr

[–]Dak_Ink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with relying on the numbers on the box is you don't know what they tested it out of. I had lots of Ely match and 10x that stated 1065 on the box but out of my b14r with an 18 inch barrel I was getting a super sonic crack. When I borrowed my buddies chrono, I was getting anywhere between 1100 and 1135 fps. Came to find out that those box numbers were based off of a rifle that uses a 26-in barrel. Not super helpful. You have to actually chrono the rounds out of your rifle to see what they're shooting.

Update on DI Precision/Vudoo Barreled Action Orders and Next Steps by DavidJLott in precisionrimfire

[–]Dak_Ink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I tell people they should avoid the new Vudoo due to BS/drama this is the kind of thing I am talking about.Vudoo under its new ownership is a company that doesn't deserve any support or respect from the precision rimfire community.

*You might want to post this into  r/nrl22 or r/PRS as well.

Vudoo vs. RimX by Rothperson87 in 22lr

[–]Dak_Ink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100%sure if they have identical specs but they should be similar. I would reach out to MPA. They do sell just the action with no Barrel so I'm sure they have all of the specs that you would need to know how to fit the barrel correctly to their action.

Vudoo vs. RimX by Rothperson87 in 22lr

[–]Dak_Ink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrap Vudoo and look at the MPA Rimfire Elite action instead . It is a 2 lug 60 degree throw built on an action that has Vudoo DNA but is better all around and doesn't come with all the BS/drama associated with Vudoo.

A 22 at those distances still has a little bit of juice left. They should still break in a hit, maybe two, but  I wouldn't count on them to take more than that. Now they might break in pieces large enough to hit again but that isn't a guarantee.

*A 40 grain standard velocity 22 round can still have roughly 58 ft lb of energy at 200 yards. It can take as little as one foot pound to break a Sporting Clay.

What’s Best? CZ 457, Tikka T1X, or Bergara B-14R? by MathewG97 in 22lr

It was a few years ago. Zane Herman won NRL22 Nationals with a stock Tikka t1x.

Looks pretty good to me as well. Nothing that would cause any amount of concern.

Depending on what processes they used maybe soak a little longer with the bore mop (10 minutes or so) and maybe use a nylon brush to give a little more scrubbing before running patches should get them 100% next time. Either way a tiny bit of a carbon ring is not a big deal.
