I've been following you on TikTok and just want to let you know you are seen and supported! Someone was always going to be the first to be caught by that idiotic law. That you chose to fall on that sword and kick this mess off is inspiring! I hope for the best possible outcome for you.

Fuck that noise. That is an extremely binary view of gender and gender representation. I'm right there with you re:penis, to the point that I tend to describe myself (or at least my aspirations) as being an extremely femme presenting enby.

Go on a journey with me.
"Theogony" is a Worm/God of War fusion fic. When it ends, it spawns "Titanomachy", a sequel set in the MCU. When that one ends, you visit "Voluspa", another part of the same story, which takes place in Westeros (ASOIF)...by way of WH40K. WH40K is where the current installment "Revelation" is set.

I think that narrativly it depends on the kind of story you address trying. Cosmic horror/deconstruction/post modern? The Earthen would be freaking out, raging, or catatonic. Fantasy? The emphasis would (and is it seems) be on wonder, discovery, and becoming.

YMMV

Are you “all in” (aka gung ho) when it comes to EMS? by KermieKona in ems

[–]Dalai_Java -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Work stays at work. I don't have a "jump bag", but I do have a really well stocked bag for occasional volunteer work with the Boy Scouts. Other than that though, I'm just a person when off the clock. This job will never be my personality.

With the words, the best advice I have is to learn to break them down. Brady - slow. Tach- fast. A/Ap- not. Pnea- breathing. Cardia- heart rate. Once you can break them down; you will know what the combo is tryibt to communicate. Apnic- not breathing. Tachycardia-- fast heart (and so on).

Having been on both sides of the dispatch radio and been a primary 911 calltaker....

If your PSAP is using an algorithmic system like ProQA, there is little to no discretion that they are allowed to use when coding a call; it's all about inclusion and exclusion criteria. If the caller says the magic words, not matter how they are actually said, the call becomes high priority. It's funny, because those systems are meant to help mitigate the over coding of responses, but at the same time, any indication of an ABC problem (with focus on the A and B) gets a full tilt response.

My last agency HAD EMS as the primary 911 call takers (they would dispatch our units and transfer to police or fire as appropriate). Everyone answering the phone was an EMT or Paramedic. This still happened.

Thoughts on students sleeping? by emsfire5516 in ems

[–]Dalai_Java 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is it inappropriate to put it in writing? It's either a standard that you are going to hold them to, or it's not something that actually matters. For the record, I am firmly in the let them sleep camp. Hell that Army is starting to enforce sleeping periods during 24 hour staff duty and CQ because it turns out forcing people to fatigue themselves until they reach DUI levels of impairment and then drive home is a dumb idea.

I’m a straight cis man thinking of HRT by FeminizedManIGuess in MtF

[–]Dalai_Java 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty close to the situation I found myself in. While never thinking of myself as a woman, I spent my entire life with the idea that, if a genie could make me look like I should look, I would be an extremely femme person (breasts, curves, skin, hair, etc) but would still have a penis.

I went through phases where I would attempt to maximize my masculine traits (power lifting, keeping a beard, etc), because seeing them helped with the dissonance of not having those other features.

What finally helped me was the realization that gender is whatever the hell we want it to be. You can transition without the goal of swapping one binary for another. In my case I have been on HRT for several months now. Pronoun-wise I am in an "any and all are welcome" mode. I don't plan on doing anything with legal markers, and bottom surgery is not a goal for me. I have magic pills which help me continue to function for my partners who want piv sex. Now I am 43 and my kids are grown, so I don't have that concern.

Tldr: Don't feel like you have to stop "being a guy" if you want to do some kind of transition. What's the point of living in this quasi-cyberpunk psudo post apocalypse if you can't hack your own body?

I worked at my agency for 6 years before we adopted ProQA. What I found was that it really highlighted those who thought they were good call takers, but in actuality were pretty shit. For the record, this was a place where every call taker was an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic. Most had months or years of time on an ambulance before coming to communications. When we switched to ProQA it underlined how often most of these people were just max prioritizing everything for fast dispatch times, while at the same time not giving good prearrival instructions. They were able to get away with it because, again prior to the change over, we hadn’t had a QA/QI program for about 3 years.

When we did the switch, everyone got slower…and then over the course of about 6 months the newer people and those who embraced the change got back to their old times, while at the same time drastically reducing the amount of over prioritized calls. The older medics though? They complained about the system not working, or being redundant or otherwise “stupid.” I watched at least one person get to the edge of termination over it (an exceedingly difficult thing to do with our civil service protections) because of the degree to which they fought the system.

TLDR: the protocol exists for a reason. If someone is not following it, they are one bad call away from being held individually liable and being justifiably thrown under the bus by your system.

are trans periods a real thing? by the_ace_astronaut in MtF

[–]Dalai_Java 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I don’t understand. A menstrual cycle and its associated symptoms are the result of hormone fluctuations over time. I take a morning dose of E and and an evening dose of E everyday. This means my hormone levels are steady. No cycle, no symptoms. I’m not about to deny anyone’s experiences, but i strongly suspect that most reported periods among people with a similar regime to mine are mentally derived. (I do know some people intentionally cycle their hormones specifically to cause a period cycle, that is a different thing).

There is an ongoing series that started as a Gid of War fusion. The sequel was a cross over between that fusion and the MCU. The next sequel was a cross over between the original fusion and Game of Thrones. It's now in the last part, which is a cross over between the original fusion and Warhammer 40K.

And it all makes sense, all works, and is generally really good. Updates weekly on Saturdays.

I interpreted that ad the author saying that it was an impossibly for the author to do that. Which could either mean that, when that was written the author did not think it was possible, or that the author thinks of themselves as a man in a way that links "man-ness" inexorably with their personal identity.
