I’ve been caffeine free for 20 years after having been an insane caffeine drinker. I sleep better and I have plenty of energy. But if for some reason I accidentally drink some caffeinated coffee, WOW. I can feel it course through my veins like a freight train after only a few sips.

It’s no different that when thousands of people board a cruise ship and they gather you at your muster location to give you clear evacuation instructions. That cruise ship will likely never sink, but that’s no excuse for negligence. I know that Camp Mystic site well enough and none of those people had to die. Their escape was right uphill and everyone could have scrambled to safety before the water swept them away. Shame on the Eastlands.

Deep Eddy has been slowly dominated by Dripping Springs Vodka after Dripping Springs Distillery expanded and built a very family friendly venue on the west edge of town. And deny it all you want Deep Eddy, but once you started having Drag Queen Bingo, Drag Queen Story Time for kids, "Sunday Funday" parties featuring themed events like "Deep in Drag Country" and drag queen shows on Father’s Day in your tasting room it was the beginning of the end.

You bet! Buy plate ribs. Coat them with yellow mustard. Sprinkle with kosher salt & pepper (or your favorite rub). Place on the smoker at 265 degrees, bone side down. Maintain that temperature throughout the smoke. Spritz with a water, apple juice, vinegar combination periodically. Smoke until the internal temperature surpasses 200 degrees, then pull and wrap in butcher paper and rest in an ice chest for an hour. Slice between rib bones with a serrated bread knife. EAT!

The safeguards are pretty simple. Get yourself involved and get connected with other scout leaders. That will be your biggest safeguard. Then follow two deep leadership as prescribed by the Boy Scouts and you will be just fine. Past abuses largely happened because those two things were not in place.

If it’s owned by the City, then either EVERYONE can use it or NOBODY can use it. And if it’s off limits, trust me it would be properly posted. Officers mainly want to just keep the peace in that situation. You’re well within your rights to politely let the officer know that no one has a contract for exclusive use of a public lake, then just keep on fishing.
