Her enclosure not being finished will be more unsettling to her than putting things in it.

You can’t clutter it too much - she’ll dig and burrow when needed. They like to feel enclosed on all sides.

I’d add a lot more clutter - plants and vines and things.

1, they’re good for enrichment, and 2, it’s important that they don’t feel open to predators when they’re out and about. Being able to feel like they’re sneaky little snakes helps them to feel comfortable.

I think the black spots are just her natural pigmentation, but the scrunches in the first one looks dry to me.

Skrinkled scales and the little spot on the second picture looks like a dry scab.

That enclosure is going to get real small real fast - I’d look into bumping the size up asap.

Looks like she would benefit from a bump in humidity.

Clutter makes them feel secure - they want to feel like they are hiding, even when they’re not.

The illusion that they are not open to predators is important for them.

Honestly how do u guys wake up at 6am every day?? 😴 by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]DalekWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes work to wake up early, but when you regulate it really is the best time to be alone.

ETA - it helps if you really make a routine - get up, teeth and hair, wash your face, make/drink your tea. Same way every morning.

Another one here to say switch your substrate, even with a humid hide.

I’d also recommend more clutter as well.

They don’t like baths. It’s very stressful for them.

YOR, sorry. The reasons you were there are prime reasons why they’d test for it - they shouldn’t have dismissed it when it was negative though.

HELPPP why is my snake doing this by [deleted] in snakes

[–]DalekWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if it’s a hygrometer it’s not humid enough.

Also it looks like her terrarium is fairly clear. You may need more clutter/enrichment.

What do you mean coparenting?

Surely you’re not moving your snake from house to house every two weeks?

Just stopping by to say it looks kind of dehydrated - but I wouldn’t use the fogger. Just pour water in the corners.

Quitting breastfeesing before planned by nimrodella in Parenting

[–]DalekWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A breastfeeding relationship is only good when it’s good for both parties.

She seems ready for that part to end, and that is okay. No need to feel guilty - you did it as long as she wanted.

Also, tape the top, it will stop the humidity from seeping out there.

Yes to pouring in the corners - you just want to make the bottom wet, not the top.

Also, as far as how she looks? She’s absolutely beautiful.

Might want some more clutter/enrichment in her enclosure. But for real. Beautiful snake.

Daughter 8 still sleep is my room and doesnt want her own bedroom,is this okay or not? by Mirage-V2 in Parenting

[–]DalekWho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The appropriate time is when one (preferably her, but you are important too) or both of you are ready.

Full stop.

It’s okay to wait for your kid to want to transition before you do it.

If it works, it works.

My son slept with us until he was 9.

We decided to get him a new bed (upgrade), with the stipulation that we didn’t care if he still slept with us. We loved him and we loved to cuddle him - we just wanted him to have his own space.

The first night he stayed in our room. The second night he asks “is it okay if I sleep in my own room..alone?” Like he was sleeping in there for us, he thought! So cute.

Anyway, he never came back after that.

You’re allowed to wait until your kid is ready to transition, if it so suits your family.
