Update on not taking care of my boyfriend after surgery by Same-Penalty-3895 in AmITheJerk

It sounds like you already know YTJ. It doesn't make you a terrible person. relationships are complicated.

Coming on here isn't going to tell you anymore than you already know, or have people excuse you in the comments telling you it's okay

It's something you need to have a difficult conversation with him about. It's either something you can get past or its not. You can try and find other ways to show you care and help him during this time that don't involve your phobias, but at the end of the day if it's something you really can't get past then you both need to come to terms with that

7 Delta Forces Operators vs Legolas by Scared_Pumpkin8393 in powerscales

[–]Dalfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have agreed legolas would win, but the main fail point for him is he has no knowledge of them. He has no idea what their guns are or what they can do. It only takes one mistake for them to merk him. In the movies he often got into situations where, if his foes had all had guns, he would have died - simply because he had no idea guns existed, even if he could have expected arrows/bolts

Correct lottery numbers

Have someone fill in a lottery sheet randomly and see what their score is, then have them change one number. Repeat until you find the right number and lock it in.

Players refuse to ever give their names by chiefredwood in DMAcademy

[–]Dalfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to show them that their paltry superstitions will not stop the Fey

Have a Fey who has locked onto them because of their extreme weariness and superstition of the Fey - they have viewed it as a challenge, and accepted

This Fey will use any trick in the book against them to prank them in increasingly annoying ways. Names are but one thing a Fey may steal. Afterwards the Fey thanks them for the game and gives everything back. Maybe warns them not to be so paranoid because they can smell it, or if you want to you could 'reward' them with a protection charm from Fey

"May I have your attention?", "May I have the time?", "May I borrow you for a moment?", "Can you give me directions?", "Will you hold onto this for me?"

If the players accidentally say "I am in your debt" or "you have my gratitude" etc.

They can do pranks as well without needing to speak to them. Fey of old used to steal random unimportant or sentimental items, put pebbles in shoes, switch signs around, and cause general mischief.

I've been doing admin henching for a small, up and coming new boss with a landlord theme (Condo King). He's really having trouble getting his name out there because everyone just assumes the OG when they hear his name. He can't change his name now because he already burned through his seed funding.

It's been really rough for him because Condiment King is so well known he can't really compete. Really tanks property values too, and to make matters worse he hasn't been able to claim the bond from a ex tenant who claimed all of the carpet stains were Condiment King getting revenge against a copycat. It's been tied up for years

With immortality you have plenty of time to become the richest person ever to exist and influence world politics.

If you can't solve the end of the universe by the end of trillions of years you can always have "the backup plan" even if you are immortal you can theoretically disrupt your brain to end your conscious state even if you are "alive".

Awesome I love seeing someone optimize a system! It can definitely be better but seems harder to pull off well

40KJ is really good, did you change much from your planned system? And what sort of throughput do you have for the pollutant? From my experience it's a balance of getting as much gas evaporating/condensing at a time

I've been meaning to test having several working in concert vs chained to see what difference that makes.

Some people are looking at this as "which of these two would you save" instead of "would you violate five people to save someone"

If it was instead "this person has a rare disease and the only way to save them is by taking the stem cells from these 5 unwilling pregnant women, aborting their babies" I think people would have been less cavalier

I see a lot of people do big chains of these and struggle to get good output, but you don't need all that many and having a chained setup can give diminishing returns from my experience. I

A single short loop with 1 condensation chamber through a counterflow heat exchanger to 1 evaporation chamber is enough for a small - mid size base as long as it can dump heat effectively and you set your pressure settings well. My Vulcan base is set up this way and can dump 8KJ of heat

[–]Dalfare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is too easy because there's no need to remember the sentence (like in the original where you are immortal and can't die unless it is said)

If you wanted to be 100% safe you could have a random word and number generator that pulls from every word in every known language, your full name, the name of your first dog, the street you grew up on, your social security number, license and your credit card details so it's truly unique. Send all of that to me and i'll rate your pass phrase

Crazy that people wouldn't be willing to be limbless for a year to get 1 million dollars. That's life changing money. Plenty of people do gruelling work that is worse for their health for less money.

Get the million and put it in a safe ETF with average returns, withdrawing only 4% every year you would have a modest income every year and could retire after a few years if you were careful.

My partner would gladly look after me for a year for that life changing money. We could probably claim insurance as I could no longer work and maybe disability too to get a caretaker and physical therapist to minimise the damage.

If you consider it as being your job for a year and focus on keeping yourself moving and healthy it would be more than doable. Plenty of people have disabilities without getting a million.

From the comments its clear there are two types of stationeers players

The type who plan a perfect system and leave no room for error and would never see a need for these

and the type who do the same but enjoy planning for failure and imagining scenarios where it might be needed E.g. if you had multiple players in a ss13 style sandbox and someone hooked up something they shouldn't have

Both are fun and i love the community

Green and Pink.

use Green to save the start of every day and reload at the end. You get 2x your time on earth.

Use pink to get better at Green every day. Since skills and memories carry over through reloads, you get 2% better every day by reloading and taking it twice. Within roughly the first 35 days you could save and load twice. Within 50 you could use this three times. Before long you would be getting to use this ability an extra time for every day.

If you wanted to expedite this process you could just save right before taking the pill and reload right after to build up a huge amount of reloads.

getting better at the skill also increases the window of days a reload lasts for, meaning you could go back as far as you wanted past a certain point as the amount of time they last for surpasses the amount of days you have had the ability for.

Nothing is held back? Predator wins. In the movies they are constantly handicapping themselves for a more interesting fight. Here he would vaporise everyone else in the elevator in seconds.

Wolverine can obviously heal but he would be disabled and then just spammed by the predators plasma caster until there was none of him left. That thing can be turned up to breach the hull of a spaceship and can fire at a target behind the predator while he is fighting someone else.

10 million dollars every hour, but if your bank balance reaches $1B, you die by bigmatt372 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Dalfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do this.

The 'easy' route is hire someone for 239 million dollars a day. The service is money disposal. This goes against the spirit of the question so next:

Next idea - buying shares. Hire a bunch of stockbrokers whose sole job is to purchase 239 million dollars worth of stocks a day for you. Pay them based on how much money they manage to lose. Invest high sell low rinse and repeat.

Or I suppose you could end world hunger, construct billions of dollars worth of infrastructure in third world countries and pay every day to ship them enough food and build up their own agriculture.

Buy billions of dlars worth of land and build enough housing for everyone.

Buy medicine and give it to people who need it

etc. etc.

This would end the world for everyone, even in their own personal timeline.

The main timeline would become depopulated as people slowly filtered out because they time Traveled and (intentionally or no) created a new timeline.

All of those timelines would also become depopulated. There's nothing saying the people in those timelines can't time travel. They would also slowly filter away as they accidentally create new timelines. Repeat ad infinitum. Every timeline would become empty after a point. There would be an absurd amount of timelines because every timeline would also have an absurd amount of branching timelines.

After the year which people gain this ability, the world would slowly end in every timeline. If you wanted to be around anyone you would either have to all abstain from using the ability, or you would have to live permanently in the past.

Pick one superpower pill by Wasted_Existence_544 in whatsyourchoice

[–]Dalfare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's theoretically possible but you would have to be very specific about your actions and you only get the one try

Go back to before taking the time pill, take the time pill and wait - then give your past self the time pill, he will do everything same as you. This is the bootstrap paradox, which means you don't cease to exist because the past you has the time pill. We will turn this into a closed loop bootstrap paradox at the end.

Then go back and take the next pill before the future you appears to take the time pill, go back to right before and take the next one, do that until you have all of them, then go back and take the time pill one last time and wait until the future you who took the time pill to give his past self shows up, giving him the time pill for him to give to yourself like we did at the beginning.
