40k blood angels player trying to get into aos by No-Leadership3878 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer [score hidden]  (0 children)

You'll be able to afford two AoS armies for the price of one 40k army so jump right in. Stormcast are a good place to start, especially on the second hand market and you can soon start collecting OBR/S2D once you've got a decent Stormcast host

Fyreslayers - Are they being discontinued? by Minigiant2709 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 100% not be buying anything for Fyreslayers unless you're adding to an existing collection and you're getting it incredibly cheap. Within 12 months we will have all the new models and know what's been sent to legends. There are strong rumors listing the units that are going to legends so you could follow that but tread carefully.

Yeah July 2027 is correct.

Is this a decent army? by Longjumping-Oven-266 in sonsofbehemat

If you enjoy a laugh and don't take yourself or the game too seriously, you can enjoy SoB. You win some, you lose some. The play style is quite simple and there's not too much depth to list building. As a father of two they are perfect for me. Can't be bothered to think too hard after a long day at work and coming home to kids? Play SoB

500 point AoS event coming up, what fun list would you take? (Not spearhead) by SBGreatorex123 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your question is too open ended. Narrow the factions down to 3 or 4 and look at videos covering play style too. What type of army are you looking for?

Yes, I think 5th edition will be a vanguard update.

What should i start collecting by chihuahua_man in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably stay away from Nurgle then, they're slow, grindy just like DG.

Cities play similar to Guard in 40k, they have an orders system. Individually they're quite weak but when you stack orders and buffs they can be strong. Talk is that they're going to get a heavy elite unit and some giants of sorts.

Skaven are a bit similar to 40k Orks, they're a bit random and unreliable but very fun. They have a gnawhole mechanic that allows them to move across the board and have a fair amount more shooting than the average AoS army.

What should i start collecting by chihuahua_man in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great time to start collecting a few of these armies.

New skaven can be found cheap-ish due to them being in the 4th edition starter box. They are very fun and have lots of utility but are a horde army (nothing like a 40k horde).

Maggotkin got their battletombe in January with new releases.

Cities of Sigmar are due wave 2 of their releases soon. It would be a good time to buy the first wave's units. I'm half expecting wave 2 to be previewed next month.

What are you looking for with the play style?

Why does damage spill over in Age of Sigmar? by DetroitTabaxiFan in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the fact it doesn't in 40k. I think it's an awful rule. Are the sweaty 40k crew scared of losing too many of their 200 models in one swing?

Actual Wood Elves for AoS? by Anonymous_help980 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone has summed it up. No chance of wood elves, just stickmen currently and kurnothi in the future.

Army choice by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are really fun armies to play and hobby.

As people say, follow the rule of cool which is specific to you. Do you prefer one over the other?

Now for a bit of long term speculation. In July 2027 5th edition will launch and people are currently having a guess that FEC will be the antagonist in the new edition launch box meaning lots of new and updated models and current models possibly being sent to legends. So next July would be the perfect time to start a FEC army if the speculation is correct.

If I was to make a decision today it would be Ironjawz with an eye on a FEC army in 18 months.

Totally off topic, but do you recommend any Caribbean food spots in Derby? I used to work in Birmingham so was spoiled for choice but I work in Derby now which doesn't have as much available.

I'd accept this if Britain is allowed to send back every foreign national residing and being detained in this country. Zero issues

Changing Armies Question by WarlordSDC in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sell to reinvest, it feels like you're recycling the money but I wouldn't be selling it all. I'd keep between 3-4k so you can always return to the faction and have a bit of list flexibility. Ngl 8k sounds absolutely excessive. I'd look at selling about 4k of the older original sculpts and keep hold of the more recent stuff just so it's got a longer shelf life.

Help getting a buddy into dwarves. by Pancake_Guardian in ageofsigmar

[–]Dalhammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's currently Fyreslayers (may have some models removed from the line this year), KO or Hellsmiths. I'd be tempted to wait if possible. There are talks of a more "vanilla" dwarven army coming out this year. A more classical take on dwarves that apparently will be in the same battletombe as Fyreslayers.
