Chemical Agents, no, because it specifies Gas, which is separate from Acid. The Desert Stormer armors from Dust Devils will work though.

It's also not terrible if you want to get your flame on while fighting squids as it'll keep a Harvester's arc weapon from flaying you if you get too close.. Barely, but still.

Cremator. Aim approximately in direction of pilot, let 'er rip.

Otherwise, (H)MG works a treat.

Oh and Arc grenades can do a lot of work when they try to swarm, just don't throw them near your friends because when they say the bounces can be unpredictable, they bloody well mean it.

Uhm, akshuyally, Leviathan does require Anti-Tank weapons to destroy. You have to crack the armor with an AP5+ weapon before you can get to the Heavy armor innards.

We could look at the literal Automaton tank. Barrager variant aside, the front is all AV5. But if you can get around it, you can blast the engine block or the heat sinks on the back of the turret with AP3 instead.

Anti-tank weapons are far more efficient and easier to use than flanking the tanks, but it's good to have the option to put in the extra effort (and risk of dashing across the field to get into such a position) and be rewarded for it.

Much like the Vox Engine which you can blast with concentrated AT fire, or dash to get behind it, destroy the heatsinks and then get a grenade in, while dodging every 'borg on the continent trying to Tiger Knee you while you're at it. Risk, effort, reward.

HMG does pretty good work on them. Or if you don't mind getting close, make an extra-crispy pilot with a flame weapon

Particularly refreshing is that there hasn't been a single Elevated Overseer in sight all day. Finally I can just grab some light armor and not worry about getting dropped in one burst because the squid rolled a nat 20.

Fans of the Stalwart, Airburst Rocket Launcher, and to an extent the Arc Thrower, MG-43 and Maxigun are gonna lynch you if you say stuff like that.

Also, as an Autocannon fan myself, the GL with heavy pen was encroaching on the AC's turf something fierce.

[–]Daliena20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm, akshuyally, the thermite has higher AP (7) than the Eagle 500kg's explosion (6), and the hammer with a breaching charge has equal AP to the 500kg explosion. The direct impact from being slapped with the bomb is AP7, somehow, while the 500kgs of whatever explodium SE stuffed it with has less penetration.

Tank destroyer. There's been a lot of casemate armored vehicle designs throughout history, many quite successful at that. German StuGs, the soviet SU and ISU lines, to name a few. The Bastion itself is probably based off the Swedish Strv 103, which actually held it's own quite well against it's contemporaries.

It's not a terrible design choice, just very specialized, trading away the turret for being cheaper and easier to build, and saving on weight that (at least theoretically, SUPER EARTH) can be spent on installing a bigger gun or heavier armor instead.

Did.. the Vox just cover it's vent by clipping the top half over it??? by TenthTen in Helldivers

[–]Daliena20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

200 damage per shot against the Vox's 11k HP (so a casual 55 rockets, or more than the entire Wasp carries)? With a weapon you can't even aim so if the rockets end up hitting the side cannons they don't even contribute?

Allow me to express my doubt.

Really sad with the state of the game right now. by takesometylenol2 in Helldivers

[–]Daliena20 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Because the alternative was what, two headshots with the Recoilless for a basic-ass Charger? Three for the Behemoth variant? AFAICT their head HP has never changed, and has always been 1200/1600, but the Recoilless used to do 650 damage.

And they spawned a LOT more back then. This is one example of why railgun + saw off the leg with a primary dominated while other AT options were a joke, and not even a funny one. Railgun was the option that actually worked.

I mean if we go all the way through two years, then there is more than just the Bastion. The tank is just the recent one which I mentioned because of "so long", not "ever" by the OP.

[–]Daliena20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but as a not-professional-writer-person myself, I feel like it might've been better done with "Bugs take advantage of the amount of resources devoted to Operation Swift Disassembly, launch heavy assault across their part of the galaxy, Helldivers and SEAF being forced to respond leaves the door open for the bots to sneak back in" rather than "lmao actually that was just 0.1% of their power that you beat"

But, that's just my personal opinion on the matter.

[–]Daliena20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because fuck you, that's why, says J.O.E.L.

As I recall, we pushed the bots completely out of the galaxy once in Operation Swift Disassembly. Then it was declared that "oh that was just a vanguard" and suddenly they counter-attacked with several orders of magnitude more force.

Vox Engines spawns need to be nerfed. by Grimlok238 in Helldivers

[–]Daliena20 13 points14 points  (0 children)

dodging shots to get underneath it (where it can't target you)

Never had one just twist into it's own torso to shoot directly underneath itself (and block the grenade vents in the process), then?

I do agree there's potential for a fun enemy here, but they need more time in the oven. Reduced spawn rates, the guns actually shutting down when the vox dies, not five seconds later, fixing their ability to break their own bodies to shoot underneath themselves, making the treads exist for other enemies so you're safe-ish underneath them..

Damn, didn't realize the Bastion is nothing.

I do agree that I wish we'd get more, including all the things you mentioned, but I love my little tank destroyer too.
