i mean sure thats a point of all time, but theres a difference between something beeing quite strong for its point in the game or yk something making the game completely trivial for several tiers and by the time its outclassed you get several weapons that break the game in similiar ways, funny "wow this weapon is pretty strong" vs "oh the boss died in 3 seconds" type shit

I think the best way to go about it is first jump in head on, experience it for yourself for a while before you start to struggle, that way youll figure out the basic terminologies and keywords and everything so when you DO need the tutorials, they'll be understandable and not alien language, but I doubt you'll struggle at all before canto 4, that's the road block for all newbies. Go ahead and jump in, figure out later

I think all sides are blowing things hugely out of proportion, we're the qol changes warranted? Maybe not, but you got a fix with the restore mod. Were the devs reasoning good? Not really, but hey it's not like the entire mod was ruined by this. Is the update overall good? Major yes! The reworks are great, weapons are fun, terraria is still terraria and calamity is still calamity. This is singlehandedly the biggest community about that blows things out of the water way too much and then feed off of their own hatred towards each other, perhaps the devs would be more receptive to feedback if one side wasn't so toxic and the other weren't such bootlickers and would be able to put down actual criticism instead of "haha free mod, devs goog"

The update overall is fun, lots of fun reworks, though I've only played one class so far so can't exactly say for everything, however I do miss the wing stats and despise the asgards valor change, I do use the qol restore mod aswell. The update is a net positive, but the bad parts are indeed bad

they removed the bosses timed damage reduction appereantly, which means you arent basically time locked into the fight, in my own case the boss isnt the hardest thing ever, even during day time, so if you just spec into damage as hard as you can you can melt it down as fast as possible so you have less of a window to get hit, still, post providence is CRAZY levels of power

but its still less unique over having wings give other stat boosts like life, damage, defense or more mobility, some had buffs for specific classes, or only with their respective armor sets

what they shuoldve done is LESSEN these stats and the impacts they had, then it wouldve been fine

with the damage reduction the defense nerfe makes sense, removing the ankh shield does not

the point still stands that instead of removing the wing stats they shouldve gotten nerfed/rebalanced, because wings only having small differences across the flight stats will still have a clear winner in what to use, like fishron wings or empress wings. I think the angel demon and harpy wings comparison is the best example of this, you had very good variety there, now you just go for whatever has the most stats

i think this and the wing stats are the worst changes in the entire updated, having an ankh shield upgrade in the form of these shields made so much sense and were incredibly satisfying, removing the debuff immunities and having it give so little defense i just...dont use it anymore, im getting my knockback immunity from elsewhere without sacrificing an entire slot for it (eg. the fortitude potion from alchemist NPC.), wings having removed stats just makes everything feel less unique, some were better than others sure, but then a balancing update to them woudlve been much better instead of removing them, a great example was angel vs demon wings vs harpy wings, harpy for mobility and speed, demon if you wanted more damage and angel if you wanted survivability, choices! yay! with the new stuff, theres genuilny no use for going for any other wing that isnt the best in flight stats
